Are you really sitting here trying to say all these guys want weed for is pain relief? I'm all for legalization but give me a break.
Who cares what they want it for, their body their choice? The evidence shows how great it is for the brain. Would you rather the players not use cannabis and suffer brain trauma?

Or would you want another T Thompson on our hands w/ the opiate addiction? There were rumors that he may never play again, once he left the program briefly. I think you are vastly underestimating the opiate epidemic we have in this nation, that started with pill pushing Drs. Cannabis is one of the safest things anyone could ever take.

I agree with your premise that they should be allowed to. They should. We all should. Weed should be legalized. But it's not and sitting here going on a rant about opiate addiction is pretty irrelevant when the much more likely case us trez just felt like getting high.

The next two games wouldn't be a bad time to get him in there.

Juwan Taylor or Tae Crowder are next up. So Carter can also slide over.

Rice and McBride both freshmen and could play if needed

Cannabinoids appear to be able to modulate pain, nausea, vomiting, epilepsy, ischemic stroke, cerebral trauma, multiple sclerosis, tumors, and other disorders in humans and/or animals (1–7).

quote:

Chronic administration of the major drugs of abuse including opiates, alcohol, nicotine, and cocaine has been reported to suppress hippocampal neurogenesis in adult rats (20–23), suggesting a potential role of hippocampal neurogenesis in the initiation, maintenance, and treatment of drug addiction (13).

quote:

Accordingly, we hypothesized that cannabinoids could regulate proliferation of hippocampal NS/PCs by acting on CB1 receptors. This hypothesis is supported by our subsequent findings that both the synthetic cannabinoid HU210 and endocannabinoid AEA profoundly promoted embryonic hippocampal NS/PC proliferation, and the effects of HU210 could be blocked by the selective CB1 receptor antagonist AM281. Furthermore, we discovered the mitogenic effects of HU210 on cultured NS/PCs in the absence of FGF-2 and EGF in the culture medium, thus excluding the possibility that HU210 induces NS/PC proliferation via indirect action through FGF-2 and EGF and reiterating the direct action of HU210 on CB1 receptors on the cultured NS/PCs.
quote:

Our findings of cannabinoid-induced increase in hippocampal neurogenesis are in agreement with the recent observation that CB1 receptor–knockout mice display profound suppression of hippocampal neurogenesis (24).

Now the real imporant part for the plebs
quote:

In summary, since adult hippocampal neurogenesis is suppressed following chronic administration of opiates (20), alcohol (21), nicotine (22), and cocaine (23), the present study suggests that cannabinoids are the only illicit drug that can promote adult hippocampal neurogenesis following chronic administration. Increased hippocampal neurogenesis appears to underlie the mechanism of anxiolytic- and antidepressant-like effects produced by a high dose of chronic HU210 treatment. The opposing effects of high doses of acute and chronic cannabinoids, together with the anxiolytic-like effects caused by a low dose of cannabinoids, may finally explain discrepancies in the clinical study literature regarding the effects of cannabinoid on anxiety and depression.

Also it is funny how most of yall are shitting on a player who uses weed, even with all this information (plus many more studies out there). Seems like most of you guys don't give a shite about the actual players health, and more about the school winning at all costs. When they look back in a 100 years and see this time period as one big shite stain when it comes to a student using a plant that can help your brain after trauma.

Plus I know this is a UGA thing, but hopefully Kirby gets it changed to like Bama.

Yeah man, the opiate addiction is irrelevant right? Did you not pay attention to trenton thompson? He was fricked up from the pills and had to leave the school.

Plus my post was pointing out the alternative to cannabis, which is the Drs popping these players up with pills. And yes cannabis is great for pain, and yes getting high is a side effect to all the health benefits.

Has Tae Crowder played this year besides special teams? I think we're about to see a lot of Monty Rice.

All depends on who is best at making reads.

Honestly think we might see Carter slide over and Walker or Grant play outside. At least for this weekend. Give us time to get Reggie Carter back or get anoher ILB first team reps

EDIT: I see you guys would rather the player not use cannabis and rather he just deal with the brain trauma that comes with the sport. I'm glad to see my fellow UGA fans would rather see a player say frick his health, just so he won't get suspended and can make the university even more millions of dollars. frick Natrez for trying to use a medicine, selfish as motherfrick. /s

listen dawg social justice warrior, can you leave this tear jerk, whiney assed, "po, po me - ah jest cain't get no brake" bullshite out the discussion?

the rules were clear coming in, I know it, you know it, we all know it

YES- we all want to see the rule changed (or most of do, anyway)

but in life, we deal with what is, and this guy is a boneheaded fricktard for getting popped with weed

five months

we are asking that for five months, August to January, don't get high

in exchange for that, you get to showcase yourself and audition for a million dollar job in a prime time environment -PLUS you get to live a life showered with adulation

it really is as simple as that

How many games do you get suspended for running a stop sign? It’s a hell of lot more dangerous to everyone.

Jesus fricking Christ, dude. Get a grip. Most of us are on board for the legalization. But the fact is, it isn’t legal - and Patrick knew that. And don’t hurt yourself jumping to those asinine conclusions that we don’t care about head trauma or opioid addiction. And also, frick you.

I'm not really thinking crowder here, I havne't heard a peep about him in idk how long. Our coaches loved the shite out of rice in recruiting and I've seen him play in a lot of 4th quarters this year and has looked decent. And I've seen JTaylor quite a bit on special teams and late in games as well.

Until Carter comes back I'd imagine it'll be Rice and Taylor filling in that ILB spot.
