JT vs Stet and the "Stet can't win a shootout" misnomer

and the "practice player" narrative.
First, I'll admit my bias here as lil workinDawg was identified early on as a "scoreboard kid". Meaning when the scoreboard was lit up, he played his best. Otherwise, could look pretty meh. He'll be suiting it up for a state champ ring this Friday.
Re the "shootout" narrative- Stet can win a shootout. He just isn't suited to a comeback W. If we hold serve, stick to the run-first gameplan, he'll do fine. We can win 42-35 provided everyone holds serve. Go down 14-17 points and we're in trouble.
Now the "JT doesn't separate in practice" narrative- have no idea if true. What I do know is we, with Stet, converted 3-12 3rd downs Saturday. Not very good. In two games vs. Bama Stet has 5 INT's. Again, not good.
Meanwhile, JT thrives on 3rd down. His QB rating was 230.5 on 3rd down with 6 TD's and 0 INT's. A whopping 296 on 3rd and 7-9, and 263.6 on 3rd and 10+.
Sometimes a kid true talent isn't defined on the practice field (HW was thought to be a "big stiff FB"). If healthy, JT has to get into the picture. Otherwise I think we'll waste this golden opportunity for a NC.
My $.02

JT's stats have a tiny sample size.

Half a season is good enough for me

Your son plays HS football so you know better than Todd Monken, Todd Hartley, Kirby Smart, and God knows how many other analysts on the offensive staff. Have you tried getting through the switchboard down there at the complex to let them know this? You tell Becky the switchboard operator this is very urgent, and to put you through to Kirby right away. Becky is a tough cookie, she'll try to assure you that she'll get your message to him, but don't you fall for it! You need to insist that you get patched through, and don't take "no" for an answer.
A national championship depends on it.

Good post and I wish your youngin good luck this week.
I have been a stay with Stet guy, at this point though, I wouldn't hate seeing JT trot out there V Michigan if Kirby thinks it's time for a change.
Any other time, previous to now, made no sense to me.

The 5 int thing really is not fair, Stet had started very few games and got hardly any first team snaps comoaratively to someone who was a number 1 all camp. You go out and beat Bama on 3-4 weeks of actual practice....
Even the one Saturday was on Bowers. He is great but he would tell you he sropped and the ball was already in the air. So really one bad int, meanwhile youngs mistakes bounced right back to him.

Are we just going to ignore the other ball on the first drive that also should have been an easy pick 6?
He makes bad decisions in big games against the more talented teams we play. That is a trend.

Seen Tom Brady, Joe Montana, and Elway do the exact same thing...
The level of perfection you guys are judging him to doesnt exist even with Nfl HOFers.

The lengths that some people will go to deny Bennett's weaknesses and portray him as a top shelf QB are fascinating. It's like the Flat Earth Society but for Stetson Bennett.
It's not just about Bennett's size. Bryce Young is only about an inch taller than Bennett. If the SECCG didn't show the difference between an elite QB and an average one, nothing will.

Yes, over a 15-20 yr HOF career those guys have thrown multiple pick 6's. They've also carried their teams to multiple W's. That's why they are in the HOF. In the biggest 2 games of Stet's life he's thrown 5 INT's, with a pick 6, and a dropped pick 6. He's 0-2 losing both 41-24.
Question- do you think we more likely or less likely to beat Bama 3rd time around with Stetson? Personally, I've seen enough to think we should try something different.

Wow...Bennett is being placed in rare company....really he's no different than Elway or Tom Brady!

For weeks now the question has been "can we win with Stetson vs Alabama or Ohio State". Well

Mrs Bennett is that you? Holy shite. Did you watch the telemundo version or something. Maybe the game looks different in Mexico

Stetson plays QB with a gunslinger mentality when he has the skill level of a good game manager. I think we can beat both Michigan and Bama with Stetson starting, but the margin for error for the team as a whole against Bama will be minuscule.

Actually saying the all time greats had bad passes and decisions. What do you expect from Stet?

He had at least 2 interceptions dropped last Saturday. One was an easy pick 6.
He was lucky.

Also, I am not conceding that Bama's receivers and tightends are better than ours. I think our guys are actually better than theirs, but we haven't had the QB to get them the ball.

Those numbers are from the games against Clemson, Vandy and USC.. not half a season.
