Saw the area this morning out and about and had to take a big detour off HWY 120 right in front of Northview High School. Apparently on the way to a house call where she was, they spotted her and repeatedly told them to drop the knife. Tasers and “foam impact bullets” did not stop her from coming at the police. She was pronounced dead at the hospital (Emory Johns Creek). No name released and the GBI has now taken over the investigation.

It don’t know the details but generally taser isn’t an appropriate response to a knife.

People often dreadfully overestimate what a taser will do.

They supposedly tased her and also shot impact bullets at her...She had to be on some serious shite to continue holding the knife and walk at the police. Will be interesting to see if they release the dash cam videos. Also kinda interested to get a picture of the victim.

Optimal taser ranger is 20 feet. The closer you get, the lesser of a chance you have to incapacitate and just piss off royally the person you just tased.

A suspect with a knife might take 3 seconds to cover that 20 feet. So then you have to shoot the taser. See if it takes effect. Drop the taser. Pull out the gun. And shoot. Before you get stabbed.

I don’t believe in saying what should be done, especially without details, but I understand why a gun may have needed to be used.only the investigation will answer that though

Maybe getting shot with impact bullets is like an instant cure to taser effects

You have problems with the English language?

Apparently, her sister called 911 and informed them that she was bi-polar and had other "mental illnesses." She was wearing a Hijab at the time. CAIR has now gotten involved and looking to start their own investigation. She was an American-Somali and with Islamic faith. This will be very interesting to see why the JCPD felt they could not contain a knife wielding woman without lethal force with multiple officers involved.

Ive been tased twice in my life. One time I threw up and the other time my muscles seized up while I was mid air leaping over a ditch and went brain first into a pine tree

Ive seen the youtube videos of people being tased and still stomping towards the cops like stuttering T rexs and it baffles the entire frick out of me. Because both times I was higher than pelican nuts and was totally paralyzed

Crazy people with knives who won't drop them when commanded, and even tased, deserve to be killed.

Pretty soon people without mental retardation will be the minority. It's already the case in many parts

My guess is that her Hajib prevented either the Taser or impact bullets from having the desired outcome. However, multiple officers should have zero problem bringing down a woman with a knife with no harm...especially with batons. The pussification of some police officers is baffling to me. You can break some arms, legs, ribs, wrists, fingers, etc with a baton that gives you almost 3 feet reach. A woman with a knife that you know is bi-polar should never be a “lethal” threat to multiple officers.

Agaj, I’ll saybit really depends on the specific details but:

Bull fricking shite.

I’m not saying there weren’t options other than lethal force and every situation is unique (I saw a videos of an officer talking down a suicidal man with a knife just two days ago), but it would be absolutely fricking stupid for them to come within striking distance of someone who had a knife so they can get stabbed.

A general standard for use of force is you can use more force to end a situation that the perpetrator of the violence. A knife is lethal force therefore a gun is potentially an appropriate response.

You mention batons. Batons can be lethal force. The use of batons is highly regulated. You use a baton an unregulated part of the body and chances are you’ll be fired and arrested for assault. .

I think pepper spray may have helped with this situation. An irrational person (or rational) would probably drop the knife to protect their eyes and then you can come in closer for hands on or possibly baton if they are still violent.

No, who ever wrote the title of the post does.

A "knife wielding woman" is a knife wielding a woman (subject verb object).

A "knife-wieling woman" (adjective noun) or a "woman wielding a knife" (subject verb object) would be grammatically correct.
