ESPN analytics shows why Notre Dame is undeserving of a playoff slot.

Today ESPN says that Notre Dame's chances of making the playoffs is double UGA's chance but, in spite of that, UGA is still more likely to win the Natty.

I think that the four teams selected for the playoff should be the four most likely to win it all, that is, the four best teams. To hell with those mackerel smackers.

He is a moron who would be a manager at Burger King if not for his pshyco as dad.

We would skull frick Michigan or Notre Dame and maybe Clemson.

We are the real number 2.

ND in the playoffs would be just like them playing Bama in 2012 (should've been us).

That and $2 will get each of them a Coke. It's all ultimately about economics - there are already people saying that the playoffs need to be expanded to 8 teams, and I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen. Like as not, the teams that guarantee the most revenue (i.e., bigger, more storied teams with lots of alumni) will be the teams that get in, and smaller schools will be left out.

Assuming CU, ND, and UM all win out..,

I believe
Alabama gets 1 seed with win.
UGA gets 2 seed with win.

Either are out if they lose.

I completely agree with your take about last year, every one keeps pointing to the fact that Bama got in with 1 loss last year and no championship. But it wasn’t what they did to get in , it was the tOSU had a second loss. And ESPN keeps ignoring that fact.

If we beat Bama and they still get in then it’ll just prove what a farce the playoffs are.

Is Alabama fielding the best team it has in Sabans career? I’d say yes, but if they allow 2 SEC teams to get in again they better prepare for an absolute shite storm.

The only way I saw Bama getting in is if they lost to LSU and we beat LSU in the SECCG, but losing the very last game and then getting in? That would be ridiculous.

That was also assuming Michigan lost to OSU along the way.

Plus, their schedule is still a joke even with how good they’ve looked on the field.

There is no way Bama gets in over undefeated ND and Clemson, or a 1 loss Michigan

Edit: I would also say ND needs to stop acting like they’re special and join a conference in football. If anyone does get screwed in the playoffs I hope it’s them.

that very well could happen if the other teams at the top start dropping games they shouldn't.

totally agree. Nor would they jump a 1 loss conference champ OU/WVU. Hell you could even make a case that 1 loss pac12 champ WSU may jump them.

From a UGA perspective the best thing for us is for everyone else in the top 10 to continue winning and have no conference champs with more than 1 loss.

So if we beat Bama in the SEC Championship, they should still get in?

I just wholeheartedly disagree. What you do in the regular season should matter. You can think a team is overrated, or whatever, but if you go undefeated with Notre Dame’a schedule you absolutely deserve to be in.

I think it’s fine to compare the total losses like they did last year.. but if all things are equal, in regards to P5 teams... then the conf champs have to matter. It’s all week and good that you like like the best team , but at some point you have to deserve it.

So when dealing with a 1 loss Bama with no confidence champship. I truly think they should take a backseat to all the following teams who would have a cinc championship and only 1 loss or fewer.

UGA - SEC

CU- ACC

OU- B12
WVU- B12

tOSU- B10
UM-B10

WSU-PAC

and

Notre Dame Undefeated

There is no reason for a 1 loss no champ Bama to be in over any P5 1 loss or 0 loss champion or an Undefeated Notre Dame.

You just can’t defend it.

If Notre Dame gets in and plays either Alabama or Clemson they will lose by over 40 points. The ND schedule was extremely weak this year in spite of the big names.
