It's pretty handy for flushing toilets though when the powers out.

Fill up your bathtub and pots and pans. Fill up plastic storage bowls and freeze.

Track shifted 100 m to the west in 24 hrs. At this rate it'll end up in MS.
First rule of storm prep - stock up on stuff that'll you'll still need and use if nothing happens - just in case everyone gets it WRONG.

It appears as if going straight up the FL peninsula is a benefit for all of us, since there's no water around the eye wall to keep it fueled. That should hasten its running out of steam, but it's still 35+ mph by the time it gets to Atlanta.
ETA: News outlets keep framing this in a "worst case scenario" discussion for FL, so not ideal for them, to be sure.

Florida looks like it's about to take the dick of doom the way the satellite images look.

I still think Savannah gets a good bit of that upper eastern quadrant. Probably 60+ mph winds monday. Calling for 9 inches or so.

I don't understand why they thought it was going to hang a hard right at Miami and go up the eastern Atlantic coast.

A strong cold front was moving into the gulf which was going to push the storm northward. Now there's a big jet stream event (or something like that up in Iowa or somewhere) that is basically acting like a vacuum and pulling Irma further West than originally anticipated. Even strong storms like Irma don't drive themselves, their movement is dependent on a lot of atmospheric variables.

That's a good point. I didn't think about this in terms of Irma not moving on its own power but rather subject to larger atmospheric conditions across the hemisphere.

So found this on reddit, it shows how strong the winds will be Monday. Athens is going to get fricked with 90-100 mph winds

It's the Euro which is supposed to pretty accurate. The other models have 40-60 mph so either way Monday is going to suck

Yeah, I'm starting to wonder how this will shake out. I already need a new roof, so this thing might help in that area.
Anyone know of a good way to seal a crawl space door without using tape that will permanently bond? I got a feeling that with the amount of rain predicted, I'm going to have some overflow at the bottom of my door.

This sucks I was supposed to drive down to GA on Monday. Seems like a dumb idea, though.
