Florida bitching on their board because we scored on their backups when Zeus got that long run. Guess they forgot about all those times Spurrier kept scoring just because he could or how Meyer called time outs to get back at Richt for the 2007 celebration. Eff em. Kirby was just showing them one more time that they still couldn't stop a counter-trap play.

Did they forget that they had just scored a TD and then did an onside kick before we scored a rushing TD from 42 yards out? It's not like we were in a hurry-up offense, trying to air it out to pad numbers.

If they are so upset, they should have played defense...

Honestly…I think we were still running normal offense simply because UF went on that same sort of “we know we can’t win but we can nickel and dime our way down the field against your prevent D and avoid the shutout” drive that Kentucky did. I think Kirby was telling Mullen that if he wanted to keep that silly shite going that we would happily oblige. You notice UF didn’t even remotely try to score again after Zeus TD run.

Exactly. If you can't stop a damn simple counter trap play when a team is just trying to run out the clock, you need to just stop playing.

They were bitching we still had starters in. I think Kirby would have ran for 3 yards a few times and let the clock run down. Zeus broke free wth do they expect him to do

That’s what UF fans do… they bitch when they win, and bitch when they lose. All of their fans are yankee transplants that have no idea of SEC traditions! frick’em!

That's what the self-righteous Kentucky fans told us.

I love that we’re bitching about Florida fans complaining about running up the score on us, while also calling the Kentucky fans self-righteous for doing the same thing everyone is doing in this thread

Not only that but they had their starters in with 3 minutes left in the game and went for the score when the game was out of reach.....as they should have. Odd how they wanted to keep playing football but they didn't want us to.

That said, several of their fans said the same thing Spurrier said back in the day...."If you don't want us to score then it's your job to stop us."

Hah, that's true. I suppose a key distinction is that KY called a timeout to get points. We were just running the ball to bleed the clock and Florida's bad defense basically let us score.

I mean, Florida fans bitching about it moronic. They literally just tried an onside kick

Sorry you can’t stop a counter. And of course I thought the timeout was dumb by Kentucky, and it obviously didn’t help them this week as they lost to Miss St, but if we really want them to score, we should just stop them. That’s the way I’ve always felt about it.

Honestly, I thought Harsin calling TOs when we were just trying to run out the clock was the worst of all the things at the end of the year. But ultimately, coaches can do whatever they want if they think it helps their team going forward.

What were we supposed to do, kneel for 20 plays?

Earlier this year, Spurrier ran up the score on Georgia and Ray Goff, the Bulldog's embattled coach. The final was 52-17. After the game, someone asked Spurrier why backup quarterback Eric Kresser was still throwing touchdown passes with 1:10 left to play.

The correct answer, the answer Bowden would have given, would have gone something like this: "It came in the normal course of our offense. What do you want us to do, tell our boys to lie down?"

The actual answer, the answer Spurrier served up with a grin, went like this: "A lot of our coaches had mentioned that nobody had ever scored 50 in this park before. ... This is probably the only time in our lifetime that we will play up here. We wanted to try to make it a memorable game for the Gators."
