Really excited about this kid. Been looking forward to Rabun County games of late just for how entertaining he is to watch. He really can do it all.

Question: Why was Vandagriff a 5-star recruit while Stockton is currently a 4? I don’t put a lot of stock in the star ratings, but am curious what the scouts see differently. I admit I did not watch as many of Vandagriff’s HS games but Stockton looks like the better QB from what I’ve seen. Breaking state records in the process.

Stockton committed early and hasn’t quite grown physically as much as he was projected

Physically his comp has always been a Connor Shaw type. He dropped in the ratings some because he didn’t go to camps all around the country and stayed his loyal arse in Rabun County to train with his own guys. Good on em

Makes sense.

Vandagriff has a 2” height advantage, so I wondered how much that was maybe playing a role in the recruiting ratings.

After watching Bennett this year, Gunner or Brock would both seem like giants.

Never could get connected with receivers or stop big runs from T-vile. Gunner was juicing throws and never looked for short passes.

It was likely the championship game for AA.

How in the world was Rabun ranked over Thomasville?

They weren't remotely close in talent and size.

Way overrated

It looked pretty obvious just eye balling the players. Rabun had a good senior bunch but not a lot of size or depth.

I miss AA ball.

I live in Thomasville and was at the game. A few observations….

1. These North Ga mountain boys are slow and white….I mean ALL white. Looked like a large GISA school. After spending a good amount of time up in the North Ga hills, I know why White County was named White Co. Thomasville High is like 80%….uh….non-white. Compared to Thomasville’s speed, Rabun looked like they were running in sand.

2. Stockton tried to do too much by himself. He didn’t get any help, either. His line couldn’t block and his receivers were blanketed for the most part. When he tried to run, Thomasville wouldn’t allow it. He only broke one run all night, and it was for like 20 yards.

3. Eighteen penalties on Rabun. Mostly of the false start and holding variety. Thomasville does a pre-snap shift on defense like UGA does and Rabun bit on it and false started a lot.

4. Rabun couldn’t stop the inside zone run. They went with a 3 man front the whole game and never adjusted when it was evident that it wasn’t working. Thomasville, who usually throws a lot….their coach was Rush Propst’s OC at Colquitt Co. until 2016….didn’t have to do much but keep running the ball.

Rabun beat the defending AAA champs Pierce County in the regular season, and T’ville lost to a AAA team, Oconee County. Also, Rabun’s loss was fairly close to Jefferson whom I assume was strong as usual this year, and what, a 5A school? So, in a way, I see how they were ranked higher. Throw in the name recognition that Gunner brings, also.
