I’m somewhat interested to know if he had come in there before and had some sort of interaction with him.
Just seems crazy to do that. No robbery, just straight up murder. Horrifying situation.

Gang initiation or something. The dude was the target because he was white.

Not according to our Sherriff and video feed. I am sure he cased the place but there as no interaction. They could not tell from Surveillance if someone drove him there or he drove himself.

Awful.
I wonder if the Philly thing was from before he enrolled at UGA...did we have a literal murderer on our roster? wtf?!

Maybe not the time for that as someone who just played for us has been arrested for being involved with multiple murders…

If he just wanted to murder someone he passed many many other similar locations. I have a theory but will keep that to myself.
Please share.

This is why mask mandates should not only be ended, but it should be illegal to wear a mask.
The shooter, alleged to be Crumpton.

I'm not even implying the authorities are wrong here, so much as just asking... Does that really look like Crumpton's build? I know he was a slighter football player, but the picture seems like a pretty slim build person... Also, if that's face/skin at the edge of the mask, the skin tone doesn't even seem right (though lighting obviously would matter a ton here).
Presumably they have access to a lot more info than me, but just having a hard time meshing this pic with Crumpton as I recall him.
Edit: Just seeing the FB post and the "WE GOT HIM!" comment really stood out in the face of "Although an arrest has been made, this case is still an active investigation." If they're correct, hope the full weight of the courts is put into effect. But much like a lot of the other conversation around others, innocent until proven guilty is still a standard that is fair to apply here. Maybe they've got a lot more reason to feel confident, they just aren't sharing details in order to protect their ability to prosecute though...

I agree Fib, I already typed it out in the SECrant version of this thread, but the only evidence at this point (that we know about) was enough to get a warrant, and evidence to get a warrant isn't enough to convict in many cases. This looks to be one of those cases, especially since the Oconee DA is the same as the Clarke DA (due to a weird arrangement between counties) and the Clarke DA is a known softy, so much so that even the Athens liberals hate her for being too soft. She released a public statement that she is too afraid to dine in Watkinsville because she's afraid of being lynched by white supremacists. That's the DA we're dealing with, to give you some perspective.
Justice has not been served yet. I hope like hell the Sheriff has more than circumstantial casings. Or maybe feds can yank this case from the local clowns like they did for that killing of Arbury.

I think what you are seeing around the hoodie is a bandana, not his actual skin tone. The picture in the story rig posted is of better quality.

WTF do I know, but the person in the video looked to be much slimmer than Crumpton looks in his mug shots. His neck looks huge in that picture.
I see the signs about Elijah all over town and have been to that Ractrac many times. I want his killer to be brought to justice, but damn this evidence seems circumstantial.

As mentioned, it’s evidence enough to elicit warrants and start to piece together if the victim and Crumpton had ever had any prior interactions. It won’t be enough on its own to convict

There is another possible scenario...what could possibly go wrong when you mix a tacky surface wide receiver glove and a semi-automatic handgun? Theory is a botched robbery attempt that went sideways.

He was like 5'10 170 pounds. Seems reasonable to me.

His profile is still up on georgiadogs, lists him officially 5-9 175. So probably 5-8. Smaller than Stetson Bennett. Would anyone doubt that was Stetson in the video?
Also, he quit football a couple years before this murder occured, so he wouldn't necessarily be as beefed up outside of that kind of daily regimen and whatnot.

Wow. That's next level coming from a fan of a college football team.
