Yes but he didn’t fumble or drop wide open pass. The Cash play pissed me off but was very close to working. You take the tie at home there.

Whatever, piaaed but live to fight another day.

Two crucial cash plays, not just 1

Nudge to review whether he is demanding from his coaches the perfection he demands from his players.

No, but Kirby could have called timeout to discussion options with Boba and make sure we were going to execute a winning play. A slow developing play to Cash Jones which had not worked previously was not the solution.
And if Kirby wasn't confident in Bobo's suggestion then kick the tying FG.

No matter how Kirby want's to spin it, the screen pass to Cash Jones had been stopped for a loss previously in the game and it was stopped for a loss again on that 4th and 1 play.
I get that we were running tempo and wanted to try to catch Bama on their heels with a quick play.
What I question is the play call which cost us the game in a critical situation.
But in the end, Bama has beaten Kirby 7 out of 8 times because they have had better players on offense than we did each of those times.
They have a better QB, better receivers and better OL that was consistently picking up up all of our blitzes.

I honestly think we would have faired better just rushing 3 DL with a spy on Simpson and blanket the receivers with extra players in the defensive backfield.
Ole Miss did this vs LSU and it was very effective. Then again Ole Miss was able to get pressure on Nussmier with just 3 DL.

That clip makes cash being on the field for third down even more inexcusable. If you know you're going for it on 4th put in the running back who looked like a prime Adrian Peterson not a fricking walk on sub 180 lb back.

Cashs value on third down is supposed to be pass catching and blitz pickup. I will never understand that shite

What’s going on with the smoke that appeared briefly on the field for 3 minutes during that crucial moment? Something is off

Play soft pass defense and you get 3rd down conversions all night long.

Also if the RT and RG don’t get split like a banana, Cash has an easy first down/ possible TD.

Yup. If Gaston makes his block, Cash scores easily.

I agree but it still made more sense for Bowens to be in the game in that situation than Cash Jones.
Bowens is bigger 225lb vs 182lbs and faster 4.45 speed vs 4.55 in the 40.
Bama's DT make a great play but because Bowens is heavier and stronger, he might have been able to stay on his feet after the DT hit. Or because Bowens is faster he might have avoided the hit entirely.
I love Cash Jones but I will pick a bigger, stronger, faster RB to pick up a critical 4th and 1 all day long.

Bamas film study told them what was coming. He knew exactly what to do at the snap. He went right to the ball carrier.

Yep. Because the entire free world knows that on critical 3rd downs there’s a 95% chance the ball is going to cash. It’s that freaking predictable.

The play also strongly mimicked the 4th down play we ran with McKenzie when we lost to Vanderbilt in Kirby's first year.

This was the exact play I was reminded of as well. You've got Chubb and Michel and you need 1 yard vs. Vandy and we're handing it to iMac of all people on 4th down.

Did they not review the spot because we went up-tempo? I keep hearing about how they should have reviewed the spot. Kind of reminds me of when Bobo went up temp in the 2012 SECCG and it cost us the game. You would think At least line up and see what Bama is showing and call a TO. That loss really stings man.

Our coaches didn't give the replay booth time. Fans in the 133 and 134 sections were celebrating like it was a first down. The fact that Kirby didn't realize that it might have been a first down is concerning. The fact that none of our assistant coaches with headsets didn't realize it or get in Kirby's ear is really concerning.

Our coaches choked.
