I don’t think that’s quite accurate. He has spoken to the media twice (that I’ve read) and by all accounts he is way ahead of Bowers and even Washington in blocking. They will create situations to get Bowers the ball because of his explosiveness but with all the weapons on this offense it’s not likely to be a huge percentage. TE 1 and 2 will be Big 0 and Fitzpatrick.

ahh frick I hope those rumors aren't true. I am hoping they can sort it out with him. If he is still struggling mentally, I hope they can keep him around and try to work with him this offseason to get him in playing shape.

Quick summary of yesterday's scrimmage

- Offense looked like shite. OL looked horrible and JTD looked horrible

- Front 7 is as advertised

Smart explained (rationalized?) it by saying that JTD didn't have all the weapons available to him and that the coaches were doing a lot of mix-and-match on the offensive line...apparently played four different centers who were not Ericson (Van Pran, Salyer, Blaske, and Kinnie).

Keep in mind, Kirby is nearly always sheepish about fawning over players, especially in practice...

quote:

“He’s made some plays out on the perimeter, (and) he’s got elite speed,” Smart said after Saturday’s scrimmage. “He continues to grow. People forget Kelee has not played tackle football in, really, over two years because in the spring he missed so much time with injuries.

“Now, he’s gone all the way through this camp and gotten a scrimmage under his belt. He gets better with every rep.”

quote:

He’s done a good job to be honest with you,” Smart said Saturday. “He’s been very consistent, very intelligent. He comes from a good program. They play multiple coverages in their secondary.”

"To be honest with you" ... Given normal Kirby Smart resistance to praise, sounds like he wanted to pump the brakes but couldn't.
quote:

“There was (once) a concern of, ‘can he learn our stuff?’ " Smart said. “But that’s not a concern. He’s very intelligent. He understands it. He plays big, bigger than he is. He’s physical.”

I'm hearing good things about freshman CB Kamari Lassiter. 99 problems but it looks as if the Secondary ain't one.

Just read that Ericson is injured and has his hand in a cast... who is playing center for us on 9/4 ? Will Van Pran be back?

Pretty sure he’s filling in for Erickson.

Hadn't heard a peep about Ringo until now. Kendrick is obviously CB1, CB2 seems to be wide open.

Speed matches well with the larger receivers but you wouldn't want him up against a phenotype of Waddle or whatever freak receiver Bama could line up.

Kearis didn't get the attention he deserved last year because of Pickens, but if his knee holds up and he plays like last year, he's going to be the star receiver this year.

Bingo. He’s extremely elusive and a great runner after the catch. Glad he’s healthy.
