Doesn't the quarterback situation sound strangely similar to last preseason?

Seems like all we heard last preseason was that no one had emerged in the battle between Lambert, Ramsey, and Bauta. Each one doing some good things, each making some bone-headed mistakes. Eventually Lambert got the nod as the most consistent...but was thoroughly unremarkable during the season.

This preseason, we keep hearing that between Eason, Lambert, and Ramsey, there's still "no clear separation"...all are still having good and bad moments. Ramsey has seen renewed interest...Eason is up and down as would be expected of a true freshman...Lambert runs the offense best yet doesn't seem to be any better than he was last year.

I'm feeling deja vu.

Kind of wondering if we see a repeat...Lambert gets the nod as the guy with a zillion years of college game experience...yet he appears to have reached the ceiling of his abilities. Eason may simply not be as ready for prime time as some would like...but might get thrown into the fire at some point early on.

As for Ramsey, I just have to wonder if he's just too much of a liability in actual games.

I'll be interested to see how Smart concludes this in time for North Carolina.

It's clear this regime isn't going to be as open with the media as the previous was. This years QB battle with a possible future #1 draft pick is nothing like last years with the difference being him and Bauta.

You know what I think sounds strange?

The sound Spanky's wife makes when I stick my pinky in her arse.

Ramsey may not start or play, but he has had the bets camp and looked the best in scrimmage out of all of the qbs.

What does Spanky think about this?

Morbid curiosity...

Alabama didn't name Cocker starting QB until, week five last season?

If Kirby runs things similar to Saban we could be here a while....

Lambert got the fewest snaps on Saturyday.

One way to read that is that he's clearly the guy right now, and they're trying to wittle it down into a two man race. Lambert and Eason. Or Lambert and Ramsey.

Eason and the Ramsey appear to doing about the same. So either Ramsey has gotten better and is giving wonderboy a run for his money. Or wonderboy is having trouble beating the punter for the #2 spot.

Last year we had no idea we sucked as bad at qb as we did. We had no idea we would miss Hutson Mason. This year we know without any doubt that Lambert and Ramsey suck and have no business starting for a d1 football team. Hopefully someone else will be better

Nothing like last year.

Last year, we had guys who are average CFB QBs as their ceiling. There are 0 NFL teams with Lambert and Bauta on their radar.. Brice only at punter.

This year we have a potential NFL 1st round pick in the mix. He's young and inexperienced, but he was clearly better in G-Day and fan day.

Unless Eason is just not ready or Lambert turned into Joe Montana, you have to start Eason.

If he doesn't know where to throw it he's not ready. Even Staffird didn't start at the beginning of his freshman season. Also we can all agree that Schotty sucked and didn't do much for the QBs in their development....while poor old Richt sat in his office wishing he could be more hands on coaching football.

This year is totally different - we can't draw any real parallels except these guys seem to close enough to keep one from being the clear winner. I'm still going with Lambert as starter but Easin is the guy by USCe.

But compared to JT3 he should have. Ramsey is about the same as JT3

Did Schotty even try? I think his plan A, B, and C was Chubb and once that was gone, he spent gameday on LinkedIn.

That's my point. I bet if Bobo had stayed he'd have been able to get much better production from Ramsey. Maybe Chaney can this year - or even from Lambert.

I'm pretty sure if Eason doesn't get the start against UNC it'll be for a good reason. Also I have faith that Chaney can get more out of either Lambert or Ramsey than Schotty did.

Didn't Chaney make Jonathan Crompton look like a world beater when he went to UT?
