DeBore’s First SEC Game. . .

. . .is against the Georgia Bulldogs

Talk about a reality check. Can’t wait for Kirbs and the Dawgs to give him a warm welcome

Our fanbase is going to be in absolute shambles if we lose that game.

4 days ago I would've said "yes, we will lose that game" beucase I mean...what evidence would there really be to the contrary? We have a major alabama problem and have for a while (it's not unique to us mind you, the whole country has the same problem) but kirby seems to mentally meltdown and soil himself when seeing saban on the opposite sideline more often than not. There would be no logical, rational reason to expect us to win at night in tuscaloosa.

However....now that saban is gone, how much changes? They're still going to have a roster that's better than 100+ other teams in america. They're still going to be good. But they don't have saban. Is Kirby's mental stranglehold as a result of saban, or alabama in general? I guess we'll see. If we win that game, holy hell the meltdown from their fans and the shittalking from our fans is going to be something to behold.

At what point do you stop believing in coincidences?

Its just crazy how intertwined the fates of these two programs have been in modern times. And now as a new post-Saban era begins, the first SEC game out of the gates for TheBore and NewBama is aginst Georgia?? Really? That type thing just randomly accidentally happens?

Nope.

If im reading the obvious simulation correctly, I believe this is where the worm turns in the movie…. where the Dawgs take ownership of the rivalry and turn the tables on those scum. And the good guys come out on top for once.

If we win in Tuscaloosa this year I'll dress up like an Ewok and celebrate like when Luke and the crew blew up the 2nd Death Star.

Deboer is a very good coach. Let's not get things twisted.

Really solid comparison. We lost 4 games total in 2002-2003 – two to Nick Saban and two to Ron frigging Zook. The two GOATs

Milroe just entered the portal and other players will do the same in the next 27 days. This won't be the same Bama team from last December. Alabama will have to earn their way back to the top of the SEC. Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Texas, and Oklahoma won't make it easy for them.

And when you think of that December team that is currently disbanding…. what would that exact same team have been without Saban? Just think about how much he changed and improved them from how they were playing at the beginning of the year. With many folks saying this year was possibly his best coaching feat of his entire career making something out of that squad.

What would that particular team have accomplished without Saban? 8-4? 7-5? Worse? Definitely not 12-2.

Fellows, Alabama is about to get humbled. They literally just hired Brian Harsin’s vitamin D deficient twin cousin.

I don’t expect much of an immediate drop off unless he’s much softer with practices and off season stuff. It will take a while for any drop in recruiting or team attitude to manifest itself.

He’s a good coach so we have to assume that Bama’s current talent will propel him forward for the time being. That said, he won’t have the same focus on defense and may not have the personnel to do what he wants offensively.

I’ll take the Dawgs. New coach and staff in a new league never seems to work out as well as you hope.

Get your chores done and go help momma with supper. If everyone is good, we may play a round or two during the wild card professional football games in the arctic coldness tomorrow

Not sure if this is a complement or a slight, but looking at LaBore’s results this year, the new Alabama head coach won a total of 7 of his games this year by only a TD or much less. And 8 games by 8 points or less

Just throwing it out there

And of course he lost the natl championship by 21 points

I just don’t see any way he will be able to maintain the physicality and toughness that the Bama teams always have. It was the Process, recruiting and dominant mindset that was cornerstone of Bama teams. That’s just not DeBour’s teams and that’s why he got wrecked in the NCG. The brand isn’t Bama…the brand is Saban.

There will be some carryover from the current players but he’ll land on being par with Ole Miss and LSU.

The only coach out there that could have maintained the mindset and physicality of Bama is Smart though….so there wasn’t a slam dunk option.. Nobody else can do it.

I think the system is turning to CKS and UGA being even more dominant over the next decade. Hell…TX and OK might be right there with us.

This guy could be a top 3 CFB coach for the next 10 years and it would still a significant drop off from Saban. It is time to bury the Tide
