Holy shite, I can’t belive Crean just came out and said that. Like damn.

He's not wrong, but that was such a dumb thing to say, especially before Monday.

Exactly, it seems like he simply just finally let his temper get to him. I mean I am not sure what positive spin you can take from a comment like that even if it is right.

I haven't seen it, so I'm not sure if it's taken out of context at all, but it's a completely bizarre and potentially stupid thing to say.
Yes, the players suck and make so many stupid mistakes a game. But he had to know he was getting himself into this by looking at what our team was going to look like without Yante Maten.

Yea, I reckon we all owe him a chance to see the quote in context but hard to imagine it being made to look much better

I mean... he’s not wrong... he’s basically saying he was not gonna kick these guys off the team and he was willing to sacrifice this year... just in different context that is... After the Tennessee game or Florida... can’t remember which one... he was also quoted saying “We’re not any good and there’s not much more to talk about” or something to that extent... I didn’t see people getting up in arms for those comments. He knew what he signed up for. Quite honestly, I like it in a way... he’s not satisfied with the state of the program. Could he have said it differently? Perhaps... but it seems to me he’s calling a spade a spade and nothing else.

No he isn't wrong at all and I am completely ok with calling the program what it is. I don't think many of us expected miracles and I also wanna preface this, or really just mention in addition to my earlier comments, that while i love Georgia and try to follow basketball it's not something I know nearly as much as yall do.
However, while I like the Crean hire, I like his attitude, and I am willing to let him do his thing for a while this quote is really rough. I get it, he's frustrated and saying we're bad is warranted. It's just directly saying he more or less should have kicked players out. Part of being a good coach or manager or anything is trying to be that buffer for your players/employees and not let shite roll directly down hill. Without context it sounds like he's not buffering much other than saying "these guys suck and it's my fault for even putting them out there". Again, he probably isn't wrong but with today's culture, social media, and a big recruit in the midst I can't see a coach coming out to say something like this and it being good at all.
We'll see, hopefully it blows over. Idk how players will respond to this but I am hoping positively and not going into a shell (not that their play could get too much worse).

I agree with 100% with what you said. If you go listen to his postgame on Dawgnation... it was taken out of context to a certain degree... he was explaing the process of a transitioning period in a program... it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s one last negative plea to sway Edwards away.

Yep, maybe that is the case. I hope it was at least (better than a tantrum). Guess we will see how this plays out.

I thought his public comments were a calculated necessity. Not only using the press to get the message across to his team but also to future recruits and transfers that there may be more spots available for next years team.
It felt like a coach at his wits end with a last desperate attempt at getting his message across to his players. When you can’t get your team to do simple things like communicate on defense or remember a play after a time out, it sounds like a many of these players haven’t bought in to their new coach. He was just letting them know it no longer will be tolerated and that their scholarship at UGA is at risk if it continues.
I for one found it refreshing and probably necessary for the furtherance of his program.
But like DGD stated, we’ll see.

Again... I don’t see a terrible confrontation with him and his players... it is what it is. Maybe he should have said that at a bar with his friends other than the postgame show... but I don’t even think most of the players believe they’re any good... you can clearly tell in their body language, other than Crump, Claxton, and Hammond’s... that they could give 2 shits this year... that’s the most disappointing issue this year... the lack of effort, communication, and winning.

It happened... Anthony Edwards officially commits to the dawgs.

Wow just look at our recruits for 2019 and didn't realize we also had two four stars. Crean building a solid class

Yup. Looking to add a grad transfer and/or Juco PG as well.

Is Claxton back next year?
Absolutely. Shouldn’t even test the waters IMO. Needs to save that for next year.

He needs to gain like 30 pounds IMHO. I hate seeing skinny basketball players. If Claxton added some muscle, Holy shite, he’s be unstoppable.
