Saw the Dean Ween Band last night, which turned out to be all of the band minus Gene. Was a helluva show. Right ear's still ringing, but it was worth it.

This one goes out to deeprig. It is Turkey Buzzard Blues by Georgia blues guitar legend Peg Leg Howell. LINK. It sounds a lot like Turkey in the Straw LINK, which raises the question: Which came first-the turkey or turkey buzzard?

As to the songs one writer penned that "Turkey Buzzard Blues" was a version of "Turkey in the Straw." LINK

SRV - Riviera Paradise

Love this song because it shows a completely different side of SRV as compared to his usual driving rocking blues. Sometimes after a long day when you just wanna kick back and tune out, this is a great one.

It's a shame a lot of blues purists used to have a problem with SRV and didn't think he "played the real blues." Off the top of my head, I can't think of many that have near as much feeling in their playing as SRV. It just comes pouring out through his guitar.

Yea I'm trying to avoid the typical 80s rock and it definitely limits the options. As good as some music was, the 80s surely produced some bad music. Not that it's gotten much better

The origins of hick hop

A young boy by the name of Daniel "Larry" Whitney grew up hoping to be a country singer. At some point he went off track....once he could no longer live off the simple "Git R Done" catchphrase as the bass pro shops gift market had been saturated...

It was around that time he realized he needed to get back to his roots and study the original country greats, and what better way to do that than with the newly invented time machine

Unfortunately, all of the gold on the time machine attracted a rather curious creature....

One night Flave snuck onto the machine because, in the words so famously uttered during the Birmingham leprechaun scandal, "I want da gold." Suddenly the time machine took off before anyone could stop it....

When the dust settled, it was the year 2011 and Flave, in his newfound white suit, had no clue what to do, so he did the only thing he knew....

He started ridin high...

Michael Hedges was a guy who rose to fame in the 80's and has had a huge impact on future generations of acoustic guitar players.

From his 1981 Album "Aerial boundaries" - Bensusan

Had never listened to Hedges before, I really like his sound. I'm gonna have to check out more of his stuff

Warning in case Jeff clicks the link: he has long hair in one and dreads in another, it may not pass muster for you

LINK

Anybody remember David Werner? In 1979 the Pittsburg singer songwriter put out his self-titled album on Epic. The LP was great but Epic never issued a digital release. Two tracks got airplay on 96 Rock, What's Right (linked) and Too Late to Try. I ripped my copy of the album to FLAC for play wherever.
