Could the receiver room sink us if it we don’t have some breakout guys?

When you look at our roster, every other position looks to be good to great with known quantities
QB: Gunner returns
RB: Frazier, Bowens and Phillips are back
TE: Ton of talented young guys led by Lawson Luckie’s experience
OL: Mostly returning starters with some very quality depth behind them
DL: Harris and Griffin should be studs
LB: Wilson, Cole and Walker
DB: Stacked at both corner and safety
WR is a question mark. I know a lot of people are counting on Taylor and White-Helton to have breakout years, but if they don’t, you’re looking at a room that is full of guys who aren’t really #1 options. Branch and (when we had him) Young bailed us out a lot last year, and it worries me what our options will be on 3rd and longs if we don’t have that go-to guy out wide.

I do worry about Gunner not having a safety outlet that would normally be on the boundary of the field.
He struggled seeing the TEs last year over the middle... hopefully that has improved.
Maybe Canion will be able to e the Javon Wims for for Gunner.

Kearis Jackson and MRJ were never our #1 WR’s. We always had a Cager or Pickens or McConkey.

How can the UGA OL have mostly returning starters when they lost 3 off last season's team? The OL is my biggest concern for the offense.

I'd argue that if our offense isn't absolutely lights out that will be precisely the reason why. They have potential through the roof but haven't really proven a ton yet. The biggest guys we're counting on are a small white vandy transfer, a transfer from tech in a role that didn't produce last year from a better player, and a promising true sophomore who at this point in his career is only remembered for a critical drop.
Now granted, with how great our ol/rb/the should be it should take pressure off the room and let those guys succeed. They don't lack for talent. But this is as concerned about WR heading into a season I think I've been probably in Kirby's tenure. There's definitely reason for concern (and optimism though too, to be fair).

I think the key to the offense being hell on wheels is the running game. Needs to be more explosive relative to last year.

Run game and creative TE usage could win us a lot of ball games. Hope Bobo and offensive staff has been studying Shananhan and that style.
Had some cool wrinkles last year but keep building on that. Not many college teams can match up with a 13 personnel with our TEs. People already shite on us about WR usage so who cares at this point.

If we utilize all those TE’s WR production will be an added bonus. I just think the combo of Luckie-Reddell-Williams-Prothro is absolutely ridiculous. We’ll win just because of this alone. I want to see the O-Line take the next step and have a “punish mode” we need to eat clock and end games.

There will be an early season learning curve like there is every year at various positions. Every team has question marks, more than ever because of transfers. Georgia has 13 receivers, 9 of whom are former 4/5 star recruits, which is more than adequate to find some good ones. Talent wise, it looks very similar to the last 5 seasons, but a little light on experience. Other than Humphreys and Canion, not a lot of prior game snaps in this group, but 8 are returning Dawgs who have time in our system. Gunner is the key; if he can use the entire field effectively, pass catchers will get open.

It sounds like Prothro is more likely to line up as a slot receiver this year. He needs time in the weight room.

I think someone will need to step up. Gunner heavily targeted Colbie(before he was injured)and Branch. There were several games last year he really leaned on Branch and it's because he always gets open. Murray had issues in 2012 not having a go to receiver after some receivers got injured and Gurely got suspended.

This is one of my biggest concerns on the offense. Who's the go to receiver on third down? I went back and rewatched the Tennessee game, and if Branch doesn't come up clutch on third downs, we don't win.
It's hard to count on a tight end, because they take longer to get open. Has to be a fast twitchy sonofabitch. I think that Taylor, Humphrey and Sacovie all have the potential, but right who really knows.

Florida State did very little right last year, but they did a great job of scheming for Duce Robinson. I think that's the hope for Prothro.

Greene, Gaston, Bobo, Glover, and Tolliver all had some starts last season, the first 4 played about 2500 snaps combined in 2025 (497, 496, 721, and 766), which is a pretty good starting point for a first unit. Tyquez Richardson has plenty of starting experience at a lower level. Our backups will be mostly 3rd year guys, with a couple of 2nds thrown in. The only youngster likely to get significant playing time as of now is Helton and apparently he's earned it. We have a total of 19 solid P4 OL prospects that will be working hard and competing for those jobs, all healthy as far as I know right now. We've had a lot worse.

The answer to that question is usually nobody (not even the film guy), except for the coaches. This offseason, Georgia's receivers have been going against possibly the best defensive backfield (including LB'ers) they'll face until December (most likely exceptions are Alabama and Oklahoma). I think our coverage will be improved over 2025, have to wait and see on tackling. From watching practice, the coaches have a solid indication of which receivers can get the job done, and the entire group will get better just working against our defense.
