Saw this earlier. Kirby isn't going anywhere. He's gonna be at UGA for a long time.

Kirby would love nothing more than the opportunity to coach Jameis Winston. I just don't see how we can keep him. /s
The Bucs' owners are morons.

I'm pretty sure Kirby understands the stark contrast between pro football and college football based on Nick Saban's experience.

Hiring Kirby at a place he can’t recruit his players would be questionable at best

I agree
Yea, he could make more $$ and have an easier job but he’s removing he one element that actually sets him apart. Who in the Bucs FO watches Georgia and thinks “that’s a guy I want on the sideline during a game”

He's a fine coach. He's an elite recruiter. Hiring him in the NFL where he can't do what he's best at would be very perplexing, especially considering the lack of success other college coaches have had going to the pros with limited NFL experience. The only one with success I can think of was Harbaugh.

I actually think Kirby would be a solid NFL head coach if he could land a good OC. His strength is connecting with and motivating players and is good enough of a defensive coach. He'd do better than Quinn in my opinion.

Is he? I hope so. He's had - and blown - several huge opportunities through perplexing lack of readying the team and even worse in-game decision-making.
Auburn round one in 2017 and LSU this past season are examples of inexplicable collapses. Maybe we could write the latter off to injuries but that was a game where getting blown out of the water made little sense.
Maybe you blame the coverage collapse in the 2017 playoffs to young, dumb DBs but there was an admitted lack of preparation for the contingency of Tua playing. Meanwhile the 2018 collapse against Alabama was truly the worst example of a team choking that I've seen in a long time.
Kirby is still getting a pass from most people because his overall performance in 3 seasons would be the envy of most programs.
But if we're still talking about horrible play calls and unwarranted collapses after four or five seasons, I'll bet the luster will wear off. I'm sure he'll get some mileage out of losing key juniors for 2019 but we're still going to have one of the best teams on paper in school history. Can Kirby put together an entire season and close the deal?

yeah..so far the talent has made this staff look better than maybe they should have looked..but while disappointed over the SECCG results, I like this version of the dawgs over past versions.

Wonder if there’s any correlation between this rumor and all the players declaring for the draft?

He is to much of an a-hole to be a good NFL coach.
Did nobody remember when Saban made a guy cry?

Well we can shut down the rumor and close this thread. Arians to TB.

I suspect this was Smart's agent angling for a pay raise and that's why Smart never addressed.
