So your opnion is based on the fact that you can name some high profile recruits in the past who had less than illustrious careers? That's quite a valid reason to suggest that Park is doomed to be a benchwarmer. Since it comes from a tech fan whose proven reason for being here is to troll, I'm going to have to go with the judgement of multiple top notch coaches who actually do know something about talent evaluation.

Jacob Park in the Tyler Bray, Christian LeMay, Jeff George spectrum

All those guys are douches, but that doesn't tell us anything meaningful about how good Park will be. LeMay never started a single game, Jeff George threw for over 6000 yards in college and Tyler Bray (while a douche) had some decent moments but never lived up to his potential. So in your brilliant analysis you're saying Park will either never start a game (LeMay), will show flashes of good play but under-achieve (Bray) or will have a good college career (George).

You're really going out on a limb there, Chris.

I think what the tech fan was saying, in his roundabout way, is that, in his humble opinion, UGA players aren't given the benefit of the doubt regarding character or talent. Of course, being a tech fan, there is no doubt to begin with about players for UGA.

I'm saying he will never start a game cuz of what I've seen of him & the fact Ramsey is already ahead on the depth chart(regardless of coach speak) & Eason arrives next year.

That's the bottom line.

So, in addition to your exhaustive knowledge of Jacob Park, you also have inside information about our qb depth chart? I can see why you're such a valuable contributor to GSB.

The only scenario I see where J-Park isn't the starter come September, is if Schottenheimer decides to go with a 2 QB system of J-Park and Bauta.....

When you're staring at a supermoon aligning with a solar eclipse on the same day as the Spring Equinox this Friday, which happens about once every 9 zillion years, remember four words for me.......

"The Rise of J-Park"

The signs are everywhere..

Fair enough, you've been consistent on that. I just didn't follow the Bray/George talk. Those guys started a hell of a lot of games. Jeff George led the Big Ten in passing once.

Someone post J-Park's highlight youtube reel. Let's go through it play by play and see if we can find a single "wise decision with the football in his hands".

I would've liked to have seen him run to the right and dive at the pylon rather than try to leap over the guy, but was a wise decision to keep ball instead of try the pass..

Park, who enroll at the University of Georgia next month, completed 21-39 for 324 yards and four scores, and scored on a 34-yard run for the Knights, who finished with a 12-3 record. Park, however, threw four interceptions and fumbled twice, losing possession both times.

I was at that game....^

However, Park could drop in the rankings after a pair of all-star appearances. At the Shrine Bowl, Park completed 3 of 11 passes for 63 yards and took three sacks. In last week’s Army Bowl, Park completed 1 of 8 passes for six yards and one interception.

To be honest you really can't take much away from the two all star games but he didn't look good at all in the state championship game, the other qb from Northwestern went to Oklahoma State and played a fair amount last year. Think he may have started several games.

Lotta folks couldn't figure out how Park won Mr Football over the other kid....Mason Rudolph.

Before Jefferson gets on a rant, I'm not claiming to be an expert at player evaluations. Park does have an arm, his decision making is where he was questionable. I think he was a "project" for Bobo.

If Park was a "project" for Bobo, then he was a project for multiple other top teams for which he did have offers. And since he probably had about as many passing yards his senior season as Bauta and Ramsey had their entire HS careers combined, it was not a great time to settle for projects going into Mason's senior year. Sooner or later, one of those projects was going to have to play quarterback for UGA.

In fact, Park was highly recruited, he was also highly rated, and he did actually win the SC Mr. Football award, unless you are suggesting that the award was fixed. So, somebody, somewhere, somehow, thought that he might eventually be able to make a wise decision with the football in his hands and complete a pass or two.

I've seen an interview with Park's coach where he said that his offense substantially changed every year while Park was there because of personnel changes, and that Park had to make some pretty dramatic adjustments in his game. He implied that their offensive line wasn't very stalwart, which might be why you see Park scrambling and throwing on the run with regularity in his highlights. It's conceivable that Stratford owed some of their success to Jacob Park's abilities to operate under less than ideal conditions.

So, maybe the people recruiting him thought he had enough brains and physical ability to improve on his mechanics and decision making. Or maybe our resident Jacob Park authority is correct, Park is worthless, and Richt and Bobo just felt that Georgia can't hope to do any better than recruit a steady stream of "projects" at qb position and revert to the Vince Dooley style of offense. We should know soon.

Sorry, the tech fan is our board authority on Jacob Park. You can be his flunky and collect anecdotal stats and innuendo that prove his otherwise nebulous assertions.
