I rarely go to games so it doesn’t affect me much but I guess the crowd will be even more belligerent so that’s good.

Hopefully this revenue will fund the collective in some way so they don't have to go after fans to make donations.

Yay for the money but honestly don’t think it improves game experience at all. The crowd has gone more family based the last 10-12 years. The 2 drink limit is good.

Hell, they still haven’t figured concessions out without alcohol. 90% of the concession workers are kids.

I’m sure it’s a two drink limit per transaction. So yeah, pretty much a two drink limit for the whole game because standing in line twice would mean spending the entire game in line.

They really need to figure out how to improve concessions generally. Start with just upgrading the facilities to a modern standard.

From the article:

quote:

Georgia first allowed alcohol to be brought into suites and certain club areas after the SEC lifted its alcohol ban in the summer of 2019.

What? I attended a game in one of the north sky suites 10+ years ago and there was plenty of booze. Fully catered with fantastic food and an open all you can drink bar in suite.

That’s pretty standard at most colleges, no? They use volunteers and give their organization a percentage of the sales.

I think it does. For folks that dont' want to partake this doesn't affect them any, and for the grown arse adults that woudl like to chill with a beer they now can. Not to meniton teh MILLIONS in additional revenue as you said.

This is the only major question mark I have. I think the only way this makes sense is standalone kiosks somewhere where there's room. The big gate 6 plaza is a great spot and they just widened the shite out of the lower level southside which is good. For decades our concessions were so awful becuase it was children working for some volunteer groups instad of actual food service employees. The introduction of the grab and go stations was a massive improvement. I wonder if alcohol can be incorporrated into that in some way?

the part you quoted pertains to the "certain club areas", not the suites. Suites hae always been able to be stocked. Post-2019 is when they added that magill lounge.

I am too old to go to many live events of any kind anymore.
Big screen TV works just fine.

I will have to say back when I attended games, drunks made the experience less than pleasant. I went to games because I love football and wanted to see the game. I never understood people going to a game and getting drunker than a skunk. You could get drunk at home.

I believe this move will actually cut down on the overserved. When people konw that they cannot buy alcohol inside, htey 1)chug the shite out of as much as they can prior to entering the game, and 2)often times will sneak in liquor as well. Nobody is sneaking a beer in a ziploc baggie, it's hard liquor.

By knowing you can buy a beer or two inside, a large number of people are going ot avoid getting blackout at the tailgate, IMO.

NFL minor league, activated.

Traditional college football, history.

This will probably help on two fronts, less liquor being brought in while increasing revenue.

I agree the CFB we all grew to love is dead and it essentially a mini-pro league now...but I mean I don't think selling beer in the stadium is a part of the downfall lol

Oh 100%. Personally I'll probably buy one pregame to take to my seat, probably for the novelty more than anything else. I wouldn't dream of trying to buy one at halftime. Those poor bastards are going to miss half the 3rd quarter

You can’t even get a hot dog and coke during half the last time I was there. Good luck in the beer line.

But if more people are in the beer line maybe the hotdog line shortens, and we can finally get our wieners hassle free.
