I wouldn’t doubt it. His uniqueness is only relevant if he plays TE or some hybrid form of it. Otherwise he’s just a big slow receiver. See the de-evolution of Kelvin Benjamin for an example. Dude was 6’5” 220 at FSU and a beast but now he’s like 260 and doesn’t want to slim down or play tight end so he’s out of the league.

He wants to be a WR. His 40 time is close to 4.8. That's not WR speed. He's a TE

This is college. 4.7 is plenty fast for an X receiver. He isnt going to get on top of a lot of CBs unless they try to jam him at the line. But his size and athleticism allows him to create late separation while tracking on the ball. He can do everything we want him to do. BigXii offenses have been built on multiple massive targets spread wide for a long time.

Jerry Rice was also a 4.7 guy (im not comparing gilbert to rice at all. Im just explaining that getting on top of a CB is not a requirement to have success).

All I'm saying is that I've heard that AG is being told by some coaches that he is better suited for the TE position, and he's not happy about it. I'm not posting an argument for or against the WR/TE talks. Only that this could be why he's "not with the team".

Arik does not have a kid lol, that's some funny internet shite right there.

You sure about that? There were reports that his GF had a kid while he was at LSU last year. Obviously you cannot trust everything on this site but that's a weird thing to just make up... especially given Kirby's statement.

What is your source?

We had darnell washington line up at the X, Y, and TE/HBack position. Darnell is a tight end. But you can line up the tight end all over the field.

You can do the same with your primary target (george pickens). Isolate. Run in a double or trips set. Put him in the slot. I do not believe that we had Gilbert on the end of the line as a tight end. But i dont doubt that he has lined up at the Y and slot positions. You move around your best target to get favorable matchups.
