Also not true

Your thread is going to look silly when you edit it down to AS11 leads UGA in yards

If you look close enough when he isn't wearing gloves, Arian Smith's hands are actually stone crab claws.

…is being forced to play more than he should due to our sub-par WR recruiting and development. Dude should still be being used like he was 2 years ago, but we don’t have anyone else.

Evans can make plays but he’s still not very big and loafs on blocking quite a bit. More importantly, as hell-bent as our coaches are on cross-training DBs and OL, apparently they can’t grasp the idea that there have in fact been X and Z receivers under 6ft tall before. Erego, Evans is used only in the slot and gadgets. Same for Lovett. I wouldn’t use them out wide exclusively but damn. Switching up alignments and tendencies can work.

Agree. He's just a bit slower than AS, right?

He's on pace to be the first Georgia receiver to finish in the top 10 in the SEC in yards per game in 4 years and only the second since Kirby got here. That's sort of a sad stat, but at the same time it shows that he is producing.

But then again he sucks at catching. Between the drop on the bomb on the first possession and not getting the audible on the second or third possession, can you trust Arian Smith in big games? I don't know. He is one of the most confounding Georgia players ever.

he's producing becuase of target volume; we throw a ton and most of our throws go to him. I don't think Arian sucks necessarily or should be benched permantnly, but I don't know why we don't go more to Dom and Dillon who are both CLEARLY, easily, better WRs. Either one of those guys should be our #1 option instead of Arian.

that seems a bit odd. He's a fast track guy that drops more balls than he should. We've had tons of guys exactly like him throughout the years.

He breaks DBs ankles on routes and is the fastest players on the team. Who are all of these other past Georgia receivers with first round ability but also sucked at catching and running the right route.

Arian doens't have anything close to 1st round ability...

Remarcus Brown, Demiko Goodman, Matt Landers, etc etc. There's probably hundreds of examples of guys that have played at UGA that fit the criteria of:

-known for speed, possibly a track background
-history of drops and/or lack of success at actually receiving

The only play people remember Arian for is a go route that the DB fell on allowing him to be wide open. I can't recall many instances of him actually juking someone or making a move against a defender after having the ball already. Guys like arian are a dime a dozen..it's really head scratching that he's our featured guy, especially when Dillon produces every single time we go to him.

In the hypothetical where we whittle down our number of bell cow WRs to 3-4 instead of targeting 8-12 guys a game, does that introduce an element of predictability to the passing game? Beck already had a few nightmare games where he not only threw multiple INTs, but stared down the intended receiver like he was trying to hypnotize him.

Bingo. Bell & co. aren't any better, they just stink at things that the average viewer misses (separation, routes, timing) as opposed to Arian who struggles very visibly dropping wide open balls. If he catches a 3-4 more he's right there with any elite receiver in CFB.

But, he doesn't

Arian Smith is way less stiff and way more fluid than any of these goobers. The only thing he has in common with them is that they'd all be corner outfielers in baseball. Some wide receivers are center fielders have a natural ability to track the ball in the air and pluck it. Then there's Arian Smith
