2007 11-2
2008 10-3
2009 8-5
2010 6-7
2011 10-4
2012 12-2 (NARROWLY missing Natty)

Yep. there was DEFINITELY blips in 2009 and 2010. I won't argue that point. But we definitely took some players that were nothing but headaches and trouble. Richt gave them the boot, and it seems since that time he has us moving in the right direction again. All I am saying is after every loss people get on here and scream he has to go. Frankly, if he were smart he would leave on his own. After the year we had last year people are screaming for his head. Do you really believe there is a coach in America that would come here with a fan base like ours? they would have to be stark raving mad.

Dooley, a legend? If so it is Primarily due to longevity.

I lived and died GA football for all of the Dooley era. He was smart, tough and early on a very good coach. Toward the end he became Richt like in that he coached defensively. The absolute worst defeat, other than a couple of UF lay downs, I have witnessed was the 79 homecoming game.

By the way if Dooley had quit to pursue a political path when it appeared that he would, Erk likely would have succeeded him. Dooley would have ended on a high. Instead the program whimpered into oblivion.

To hold Dooley up as the paragon of coaching to long suffering real-a-dawgs is just as insulting as throwing up a modern 10-2 record as the standard of excellence. 10-1 in the SEC in the 70's meant something. Now, it means you beat up a bunch of cupcakes.

Were we wrong for being upset on Saturday Night? Not jumping the gun here. But we've always dropped the "Big Game" during the Richt Era. But that lost hurt because that was a statement game. I know we have the depth & talent. I just feel we're always out-coached.

Another dumbass newbie that comes on here spewing his crap.

Why am I not shocked that somebody throws around Vince Dooley as a measuring stick? If you want a measuring stick I'd look to the boys in Tuscaloosa.

Neither. The majority of the so-called fans on here jump off the bridge at the first chance. Same old broken record, no matter who or what is in. Fair weather fans at best. They always make up some stupid shite about everything under the sun.

But facts are facts: we lost to a very good team in a hostile environment. A team whose O lives up to its billing, in their environ, in front of their crowd. Granted, we made some mistakes but as a whole played pretty good. There are those who say AM can't play big games but conveniently forget that there are more than one person on a team. The OL, as a whole, didn't really do that bad, considering the fact that - as someone said on here earlier - they couldn't hear the count, which forces them to go visual, which in reality puts them and the D on the level. But it is what it is. And, let's not forget the fact that we were breaking in how many freshmen on D? They played pretty damn good considering.

But, the majority on here act like their world revolves around football, and that their mental well being is dependent on if someone makes a good play. Oh, I know, let's blame it on Gurley or Marshall for not doing enough in the first half...or MM for tearing his ACL... get the pic?

He may have. I don't think any of us can be certain. However, the trend seems to be going back up. I don't think many on here realize the upheavel that is caused when a head coach is changed. You lose some of your players that came because of the head coach...you lose some prospective recruits...usually lose some or all of your assistant coaches...and then, unless you get a proven commodity, you might have done all of this to your program for an inferior coach. Do we want to settle for mediocrity? Of course not. But we are a LONG was from mediocre. I don't see any other fan base that screams every time they lose a game that they need to fire their coach.

Great post! because if every team in the country uses Alabama as their measuring stick, then every team in the country would be calling for their coaches to be fired just like you guys.

Do we want to develop a program like Alabama's? Sure. But how many teams have done what Alabama has done in the history of the game? Zero...ok. Alabama has. So, if we are not doing what Bama does on the field we fire our coach? How many coaches do you think would want to come here under those circumstances?

It's years of frustration that have built up. Fans are tired of losing to quality opponents on national television, so he really has little room for error. I hope I'm wrong about the man. We will see in a few weeks I suppose.

Did you realize that on a list of the top 50 coaches of all time that Dooley is ranked #27? Now that is college football coaches OF ALL TIME. But, apparently he is NOT good enough for you, either.

LINK

Vince Dooley was a legend during his 25-year stay in Athens. The Georgia Bulldogs won six Southeastern Conference titles under Dooley and in 1980 he won them their fifth ever national championship.

Dooley would go on to post seven top 10 finishes as well as 14 top 25 rankings. His best and most notable player was the 1980 Heisman Trophy winner Hershel Walker, which many to this day still consider the greatest college football player of all time.

We should also not forget that Dooley was very successful in the toughest conference in America with a record of 104-42-4 (69%) in the SEC.

I know. And we all feel the same way. We are anxious to move to the next level. And, i don't think we will even know this year. Maybe...maybe not. But we know we have a top notch coach. And we know he SEEMS to be turning it around. (See last year) I mean, think about it. had we gotten that last 5 yards last year, everybody would be calling him the greatest ever. And, as far as Georgia is concerned, he would be. An easy case can be made for him being the most successful coach Georgia has ever had. Instead, people are calling for him to be fired.
