Shepherd walks, King doubles, and Schunk sac flies to left Center to bring us to within 3 in the 7th

It ain't over 'til it's over.

Likely going to have to do it on the 9th as we are at the bottom of our order for the 8th which has been mediocre at best.
Even if we come back, I’m a long way away from forgiving our bullpen. 7 fricking runs on 0 RBI hits. Their stat line is literally 10 Runs 3 Hits 2 Errors

Lol no need to melt over the bullpen running out of steam in their 3rd game in 30 hours or whatever. It's a long season, this shite happens. At least it is happening in the third game of a series we have already won in March and not against an SEC team

7 RBIs on 0 hits in a game you lead 6-3 in the 6th is beyond your typical early season faux pas. That’s a level of suck that is going to stick with some pitchers

Dawgs elect to lose game 3 by spotting Southern 7 runs in the 6th on 0 hits
9-2 on the year with two Alabama teams during the week and Presbyterian next weekend.

D1 has us ranked #9.....
Not sure I would go quite that far considering how are losses looked (shite hitting in one, crap pitching/fielding in the other) against crap teams. However, very excited to see how this team builds and matures, as we can make a serious run at hosting a regional!
Go Dawgs and Fire Striklin if he fricks this up

We had an abysmal week in Charleston last year that served as a catalyst for the team improving so hopefully we get more of the same this year. A 5 Game tear this week before Carolina next weekend would be nice

how did wilcox do in his start?
Posted on 3/5/19 at 8:58 am to WG_Dawg
He didn’t do bad. Flashed some major league talent but definitely showed signs of making similar freshman mistakes to Locey (overthrows when he gets amped up or emotional). If he can maintain control he’s just nasty but he’s still coming to terms with the fact that a slider and a fastball aren’t going to beat ever college hitter he faces like in HS. Needs to master use of his change up which I can’t recall him throwing at all against Southern.
Game today bumped up to 3 to avoid te freeze warning that starts at 6 tonight
Tim elliott gets the start again against a decent hitting Alabama St team who is 7-4 so far. Looks like state’s pitching is rocky.
C.J. Smith will get the start tomorrow against Jacksonville St
Starting or not, we are better with Proctor available to pitch as evidenced late Saturday. Hope he’s healthy by Carolina weekend

Wilcox was our 14th overall prospect for the 2018 MLB Draft and will be eligible agin in 2020 as a sophomore at Georgia since he makes the age cutoff by a handful of days. At his best, Wilcox sits 93-96 and hits 98 with heavy sink, a plus changeup, a solid average slider and above average control. He had a tough college debut but was 95-99 mph and sharp in a more typical outing in the first weekend of March.
Fangraphs weekend blurb on his performance.

does that mean he can go pro after this season?

No, he has to wait until the 2020 draft. You must wait 2 years if you decide to go to college.
Dumbest rule in the world....hey, you can get drafted right out of high school, but if you go to college, you have to wait 2 years....

Its actually 3 years removed from high school, unless you are old for your class, which Wilcox is.

gotcha, the sophomore wording confused me.
As for the rule, I love it and wish college basketball would go more in that direction as well. It only helps strengthen the college game, and if you have a guy that's a surefire pro that doesn't want to bother with college he doesn't have to.

Being able to leave after his second year probably helped sway Wilcox to Georgia. He would have easily been a first round pick this year. Stay two years in Athens instead of playing in the rookie Gulf Coast League or rookie Appalachian League. Better accommodations. Better food. Better travel. Probably getting paid better, and he will still be only 20 for the draft next year.

Tonight is 5 and tomorrow was moved to 3. Which makes no sense because there’s a freeze warning tonight and it’s supposed to warm up tomorrow
