I’ll go by player point rankings or composite player ratings. And you are correct there’s still a lot of meat left on the bone that’s why I’m not diving head first just being aware of current versus years past. And it’s July.

Honest question because o don’t remember. Who from the 21 and 22 classes were immediately starters? Bowers? Anyone else?

Class of 21 had AD Mitchell start as Fr. and from 20 McConkey as a RFr.

Starting at UGA as a ball handler only truly takes one ability. The ability to reliably catch the ball and hold on to the ball. Stars don't matter after that.

That’s part of my point. None of the big stars started day one

Why do those things matter? I answered the question.

It’s also not necessarily “start from day one” for me… I’m just simply pointing out the average ratings for our players is not as high as other teams ATM. There are definitely some studs and Kirby can develop. I’m mainly concerned about O-Line talent and lack of quality depth. All these other players could be good if they stick around.

Because Kneehigh asked if any of them are elite or day one starters. I'm just comparing those guys to the current class. We have some great players and some of the lower ranked guys will probably end up as elite, just like Ladd.

This should be obvious to anyone who's gone to the trouble to look at average ratings, but try throwing out our special teams commits and recalc. Using the 247 composite I think our avg is 92.6., which is one of the highest. We also have more commits than most teams, which makes the high average more impressive. How it ends up, I have no idea, but right now we have a number 2 class with 7 top 100 players. If you're not happy with that in the era of NIL, you may have picked the wrong hobby.

Another reality of Kirby’s recruiting strategy is that several players toward the bottom of our commit list will likely end up elsewhere if their senior year isn’t up to par with the staff’s early evaluation.

Saw a pic of Smart and 2027 4* safety (Albright) out of Effingham County. #5 nationally at the position.

My son's very good friend.

Some white NFL receivers who were rated 3 stars as college recruits.

Jordy Nelson
Adam Thielen
Julian Edelman
Justin Watson
Lance Alworth
Riley Cooper
Wes Welker
Alec Pierce
Brandon Stokley
Cole Beasley
Danny Amendola
Eric Decker
Alex Erickson
Austin Proehl
Braxton Berrios
Ben Skowronek
Cooper Kupp

Why not try to identify and sign the most underrated 3 star white receiver. He is probably a solid 4 star or better.

It's a cold blooded business. The players get paid and they have to earn it. By the same token, there are numerous top programs that will bid up for highly rated UGA commits down the stretch, because they fear and respect what Kirby's built. After last year, Texas is definitely the latest addition to that group.

Happy 4th Recruiting Thread people!

We might get another commit today at noon. TE B Fogle. I’ll update when it’s done.
