The other site now saying they expect our commits to be 17 or 18 by the end of the week....with 4 new recruits. (There is a player they feel will decommit. If he does we would have 17, if he does not..18)
If there's one position where I don't fret over decommitments, it's linebacker.

That was my assumption too.

That is the speculation, but who knows, really? Time will tell...and I agree, I don't much worry about LB, either. Well, for that matter, I don't much fret over any position group. I guess it could be argued that we don't get the big 5* WR's, but we seem to have a knack for spotting good, undervalued players like McConkey. I like big 5* players, but I really get a kick out of the
lower ranked players that we develop and they excell..Deandre Baker, Brian Herrien, Monty Rice, Eric Stokes, Jordan Davis, Warren Erickson, Stetson Bennett, McIntosh and the list goes on and on. I take a special pride on those guys. They wouldn't cost an arm and a leg in NIL, then they outplay others who do.
(Yes, I am aware most did not play under NIL rules) When those guys hit it shows two things...
1) Your coaching staff can identify talent well
2) Your coaching staff can develop players
Mix them in with a few high ranked players that hit and you have titles.

Nissed on a WR target we thought we would get. Wiley went to FSU. That's not good. But...one thing we should all remember...when NIL is involved it isn't over until it's over.

Mom and Dad were NOT happy with Mr Wiley. This recruitment isn’t over by a long shot.

I agree that this recruitment is not over because Kirby is relentless. But, from what I can make of this NIL mess, after the Febuary court injunction it's perfectly legal for athletes to begin receiving payments while still in HS. We'll have to see how that plays out, but if a college program has enough money to pay athletes for a year (or more) before they enroll, it might make for a tough flip in some cases.

Well Tyler Williams committing softens the Blow. I like this kid.

I like him too. I think the analysts are docking him for a single 11.5 100m time (in 10th grade), but his highlights look very good.

Landon Roldan 3* WR committed. I saw it reported a few places. Is he PWO or scholarship?

What is the deal with our WR recruiting

Pretty sure he is scholarship. The staff worked him out twice. We are hoping he will be the next Ladd McConkey.

Negative recruiting would be my theory, and it might be valid.
In Kirby we trust, but if my son was a 5 star wide receiver I'd probably steer him away from Georgia. We play more 2 tight end sets than just about any team in America and rotate receivers more than just about any team in America.
There's only been one receiver in the Kirby era finish in the top 15 in the SEC in yards per game and the top 100 in the country. That was George Pickens, and he barely made the lists.
And then there's the fact that we've signed 5 receivers out of the portal in the last 2 years.

IMHO the rotating hurts more than anything. If I’m a star receiver the only thing worse than not getting the ball would be getting subbed out constantly. Especially if I get subbed and the guy who goes in gets targeted.

Every decision has pros and cons. If you use the same 3 guys without rotating, the rest of your depth chart guys aren't happy. In the era of the transfer portal, unhappy players are a transfer risk.
If you use your top 3 heavily and rotate very little, by the end of a 16 game season you may be using backups. More reps equals higher risk of injury. Bama did that, and then made excuses when they had to use inexperienced backups in the playoffs. Georgia won the war of attrition and that's a huge part of winning championships, fan excuses notwithstanding.
I like getting the highly ranked players as much as anybody, but I also think that broader participation breeds long term success. You're gonna lose out on some "me first" guys, but you'll have a better locker room culture and more experienced depth.
