Well, if you can call ballgame in the 3rd…

Marsh gives up 1 run and leaves runners on. Polk comes in and gives up 5 more including a grand slam

7-1 Mizzou

Terrible. Just an absolutely critical game, at home, against fecking Missouri and we’re getting smoked.

Wish I could put it all on Crisp’s injury which absolutely affected the game (and probably more) but the Mizzou starter had thrown 10Ks when last I checked. Murphy’s Law game tonight.

As soon as Marsh was forced into sudden action and struggled, Stricklin called retreat. That’s the only reason you throw Polk, Rokose, Pearson, an DeJong on Thursday. Have to put our bullpen eggs into winning tomorrow and Saturday

So Crisp has a muscle pull, Blaylock got drilled in the head, and Gonzo hurt his wrist.

Terrific!

Cannon getting smoked by a bottom tier team in the SEC.

Mizz up 7-1

Really not sure what to think right now about this team. I’ve said it for a while; but hoped for better. We are likely now a 2 seed pending some run in Hoover.

Honestly for the fans that don’t watch and just check this thread, don’t get your hopes up for a big run. It could happen if we got hot bats, but not looking good right now

I kind of feel bad for him because it seemed like he was building up to 2020 for awhile. That was clearly going to be his best team and they had the pitching to make a pretty deep run.

Injuries were often sighted in our inability to get over the hump during the Richt era. We have also had our share of injuries with Kirby at the helm, but Smart has recruited so well that our depth overcame the injuries.
Bottom line: lack of quality recruiting/depth is the root cause of our woes in both basketball and baseball.
I look forward to the day when we are competitive in all of the 3 main sports.

Basketball isn't depth...its we cant get a good coach or good recruits. When we had the #1 pick, we still didnt do much.

Baseball is very tough to get "depth," because kids can go play immediately in the MLB or want to play immediately in college. You can also go to 1 of about 300 schools for baseball and still have as good a chance as others of getting drafted.

I would also argue that depth in football is easier, as the best players know that they will make it to the NFL and sitting a little early in their college career or sharing workload (Carter/Davis) can increase their playing career in the NFL where they are making money

We should be a 3 at best if we make a regional. Will get bounced quickly. Incredible group of losers on this team. Pathetic.

We will 100% make a regional. Likely a 2 seed, even if we lose today and winless in Hoover.

Haven’t heard any updates on Crisp, but guessing he won’t be available for the regional. Strained muscles can be anywhere from 2-6 weeks depending on severity and treatment
