AD Mitchell will be our best receiver excluding Bowers next season.
I think Burton will join that club.

We have so many great receivers returning, and now Gilbert is with the team...
Feels crowded. I'll be surprised if everyone stays.

I hear ya.
But when's the last time we started/meaningfully played a true freshman anywhere in the secondary?
Ringo... nope.
Cine... nope.
Campbell... nope.
LeCounte... nope.
Green, Lassiter, Stevenson, Kimber, Branch, Burns, Daniel, Wilson, Smith, Gibbs, Bishop, Poole, Speed, Brini, Stokes, Roundtree, Parish, Baker......
We could go on like this naming every recruited DB/S/ATH for a decade and virtually none of them saw a meaningful snap as a true freshman.
So just saying, I know we have a hell of a DB class coming in, but it's probably pretty silly to even mention them on the depth chart for 2022.
And everything else said, I'm a bit concerned about our interior DL and ILB still.
Walthour, Logue, Mitchel, Brinson, and Jefferson are no Travon Walker and Devonte Wyatt. And Stackhouse is no Jordan Davis.
And Jalen Carter is probably best in a 3-4i technique rather than 0-1 NT. So I expect Stackhouse will actually try to take over the Jordan Davis role more than Carter.
At the same time, is Monden ready to take over the Nakobe Dean role? I sure hope so, because Dumas-Johnson, Sorey, Marshall, and Davis have to step in for Tindall and Quay Walker, who effectively lead a historic #1 defense in the country in tackles.
We had 3 ILB's who were all tackling machines that ran 4.4x-4.5x. We may be forced to start those athletic freaks in the middle just to compensate.
I think we all need to be prepared for some serious growing pains on that D.

I feel like Ingrham Dawkins is getting forgotten Bout. I think he will be JDs heir apparent to start the season

Between Mitchell and Ringo both reaching down and discovering a new gear, I expect their confidence headed into the offseason should be thru the roof.

I hear ya but if all of the CBs ahead of this current class enter the portal then they will contribute one way or then other.
As far as DL, Devonte Wyatt wasn’t Devonte Wyatt until his Super Senior season. These guys will be the ones playing, like it or not.
ILB is a complete rebuild. No one is questioning that. Mondon, Dumas-Johnson we’re the best reserves in 21. They should get the “starts”. Sorey was undersized and didn’t play as much. He will have a complete cycle in the S&C program and he’s already put on weight. He will be an elite player. Channing Tindall didn’t get meaningful snaps until this year.
This whole D will be a work in progress. We agree about that.
Go Dawgs!
:cheers

Campbell started 11/14 games as a true freshman.
Stokes played in 13 games his freshman year, starting 3 of the final 4 of the year.
Don’t know about others but remembered those so I looked them up.

Stokes was a redshirt.
Same as ringo this year.

QB - Bennett/BV/Gunner Stockton (I personally think BV is going to push for the starting job)
RB - McIntosh/Milton/Daijun Edwards/Branson Robinson
X - Mitchell/Rosemy-Jacksaint or Gilbert
Y - Burton/Blaylock
SLOT - K Jackson/McConkey/A Smith
TE - Bowers/Washington/Fitzpatrick/Delp
LT - Jones/Micah Morris/
LG - Dylan Fairchild/Willock
C - Van Pran-Granger/Ericson/Webb
RG - Ratledge/Ericson/Jared Wilson
RT - McClendon/Mims/Lindberg
____________________________________________________________
DE - Walthour/Jefferson/M Williams/Ingran-Dawkins
NT - Carter/T Mitchell/Bear
DT - Stackhouse/Logue/Brinson
OLB - Beal/M Jones/Chambliss
ILB - Mondon/Sorey
ILB - Dumas-Johnson/Sorey/J Walker
OLB - N Smith/Sherman
CB - Ringo/Singletary/Everette/Humphrey
CB - Green/Singletary/Everette/Humphrey
STAR - T Smith/Poole/Starks
S - C Smith/Lassiter
S - Daniel/Bullard
- Offense will be even better with all that talent.
- Will Clay Webb put on weight to play LG?
- Will Blaylock get back to 100 percent?
- Freshman WR Chandler Smith 6'3 180, is enrolled and may be the fastest player on the team.
- Returning DT's got plenty of playing time in every game.
- Dline should still be a strength. ILB is talented but inexperienced. If they click look out, back to back 12-0 seasons.
