basically Evans had another run in with his high school coach between signing with us and getting out to UA game.

Why would that have any effect on him signing with us? I thought he was off the team.

That makes sense considering what he said during that interview. If what you said is true, I’m not sure I want him in the locker room. That many incidents in such a short time span is a huge red flag.

Pretty sure this was the much discussed cell phone curfew incident the night before the state championship game.

I would like to think Kirby already knew that. I doubt he found out this morning.

There’s a theory out there that maybe Kirby wanted to see some remorse, which would explain what Evans said in his interview.

He got kicked off the team (or suspended for his last game, anyway) after signing.

I'm not sure how the ball is in Kirby's court if he already signed unless, as I speculated earlier, Georgia hasn't turned his LOI into the conference office yet and they wouldn't burn a spot under the 25 player limit by cutting him loose.

If he's going to cost Georgia a spot whether he joins the team or not, I don't think there's any way Kirby wouldn't at least get him on campus and judge the kid first hand.

@ChadSimmons_

Zach Evans said he can’t reveal “at this time” what is going on with his recruiting or NLI situation. He said he talked to Kirby Smart a “few days ago” and that he’d like to reveal his decision soon. Stay tuned...

Of course Kirby knew about this. Everyone who follows recruiting knew about this the day of the Texas state championship game (12/21). Where did I say Kirby just found out?

Kirby has a rule about public commitments and having grades/scores in order. "would like to" plays into the speculation that he may not have things 100% in order.

Wonder if the whole “disease” quote struck a chord with Evans, and he’s speaking to CKS through his UA sideline interview acknowledging he’s had a definite attitude problem but he’s ready to change that and go to work.

This also all but confirms Evans signed with us; Kirby would be the only coach he would be allowed to talk to after signing an NLI with UGA

Was the ? a real question mark it was it that thing where this site turns emojis into question marks when you paste then into a post?

I can't lie, I'm still clinging to the 0.01% chance the kid has been trolling everyone and he's really coming to LSU. ??

Edit: good point Tyler. If he really did sign it had to have been with Georgia

Was a real question mark.

And yeah, at this point there’s zero question he sent his LOI to UGA, otherwise he just put Kirby in trouble with the NCAA for speaking to Evans after he effectively committed elsewhere. And we know that didn’t happen. Kirby isn’t stupid.

When asked why he did not announce, he was vague with his answer.

“Everything going on with the schools and stuff, coaching staffs leaving and stuff like that,” Evans said.

When asked which school he signed with, he responded, “I can’t tell you all yet.”

However, Evans did say he spoke with Georgia coach Kirby Smart this week and also saw how the Bulldogs handled Baylor in the Sugar Bowl win.

“Kudos to them,” he said. “I want to tell (running backs) coach (Dell) McGee good job last night. I saw Zamir White get in the end zone. I want to tell coach Smart that was a good workout there. Ya’ feel me. George Pickens, college receiver, best freshman.”

And when did Evans speak to Georgia?

“Coach Smart?” he said. “A couple of nights ago. A real good man.”

Another interview confirming he spoke to Kirby after he sent in his LOI.

Tacit proof he sent it to UGA since other team’s coaches aren’t allowed to speak to him after he sent in his LOI.

We still feeling good about Ringo? I think he’s the only target we have announcing at Saturday’s all American bowl.
