I don't think anyone lied to him, but some of these kids need to be advised to commit to the school, not the position coach.

Emotional kids making lifetime decisions and now his lead recruiter took another job. It’s part of the buisness and I’m sure he was reminded of that.

With the current culture they all should know there is an extremely strong chance they will eat coached by someone else before they leave the school. Possibly even two more coaches.
Look at Jalen Hurts. Joker has had four different OC’s now and he’s only played in college for two years.

I believe Fitzpatrick was the one who congratulated Beamer, not Ford. I might be misremembering, though.

Regarding Sandidge:
I've followed his recruitment pretty closely since early summer. I've never understood the "South Carolina lock" sentiment that gets passed around as gospel. His visits, public comments, and even his mom's comments have indicated that Georgia has a shot.
I think Scott having a long standing relationship with the family is a big deal. If it comes down to relationships versus legacy, I tend to bet on the relationship.

Being able to land Cade Mays tells me everything I need to know about "legacy locks". It wouldn't surprise me to see Sandidge break USCjr, but if we're focusing on him this hard headed into the home stretch, that has to count for something as far as the staff's evaluation of our chances.

Ford did and then posted some pro Georgia stuff as well as some cool stuff about Rivals saying he's the number 1 TE in this class.

Well, damn that’s sexy and Ford retweeted this so he’s fine.

Yeah, I totally missed that, apparently.

Do you guys follow recruits? I follow recruiting writers that retweet things, but following recruits just feels creepy to me. It may be because I am old enough to be most of these guys’ Dad.

Following random recruits is weird but Ford is a signed, sealed, delivered commit. So basically it is like following one of the players. Following a guy like that seems pretty OK to me. Tweeting at him though is another thing.

I know the feeling and while I personally don't do it, I don't see the harm. Now, actually reaching out or tweeting at them is a whole nother ballgame, but simply following them is pretty harmless IMO.

Did y'all see this?
Whole lot of rampant speculation and overreaction to a "Wow" tweet. I didn't see one where *he* said he was lied to, just that replies indicated that is probably what happened - which he did retweet at least one of (and has since unretweeted it - GD that shite sounds ridiculous). To some degree, the fact that he was surprised lets us know that Beamer was recruiting for Georgia full out prior to getting this opportunity with Oklahoma. I think one of the replies kind of nailed my thoughts on the subject:
quote:
Young bruh, considering how little impact the TE position had under Beamer, you just got lucky.
Not to trash Beamer, but the TE position definitely was underwhelming from a receiving production standpoint. Tough to hand him any "blame" there given that the game plan just didn't call for a ton of passing period, but a new TE coach may drive some influence in the plan to use them more. As to their blocking duties, it's a known quantity that they do a lot of their blocking training with Pittman during OL sessions (as well as probably some split time with Coley during WR down field blocking drills)...
I hate it for a kid to feel misled in general, but to jump to the conclusion that he was lying is a little out there... most likely, his intent *was* to stay, but career opportunities for advancement for coaches are limited time offers, it's not like he can press pause.

I think it's mostly a non issue in this case. Most of us have experienced a coworker/boss/etc leaving unexpectedly at some point. Often there is an initial reaction of shock and frustration, but rather quickly it's replaced with excitement for that persons new opportunity and a reminder of what you like about the school/organization.
Ultimately, everything Luke Ford loved about Georgia will still be true. His opportunity here will still be great. These kids are growing up now with the habit of broadcasting their thoughts in real time via twitter. I usually apply the 24 hour rule before taking seriously peoples reactions.

worked in Georgia's favor three years ago after Roquan committed to UCLA and then Falcons new HC Dan Quinn did us a solid and hired UCLA LB coach Jeff Ulbrich.

I think those are two pretty different situations. Ulbrich had already accepted his job with the Falcons, but tried to wait until Roquan signed with UCLA to make it public (or Mora wanted that to happen). When Ford signed with us Beamer still had every intention to be in Athens.
At least that’s what I’ve gathered so far.

Miami just got their 4th cornerback commitment today (3*). Campbell to the Dawgs is looking good.

But who knows if it was a lie or Beamer didn't have intentions of leaving at the time.

Good deal, looks like they threw that offer out after potentially learning Campbell was not coming to the U, guy is 5'10, 158, #1200+ player in the country, hope it's DaWGs for Campbell and not bammer, even though it appears him and surtain don't won't to play with each other, maybe some kind of rivarly between the two as to whom is the better CB.
