In case anyone here was actually worried about Fields, you should know we’re fine now.

Not this year, but in 2-3 years from now....

In fairness, a Kirby Smart led defense in the past has had Alabama talent surrounding him. We are getting there, but aren't there, yet. Also, Mullen has not really had the pull for the best Florida talent he has now. he SHOULD be able to pull better talent than he had at MState.

You're starting to contradict yourself a little here... can't judge Mullen on future potential and not account for the direction Kirby has already proven we are moving.

Kirby's had roughly a 75% "blue chip ratio" in both of the last 2 classes (moving us up to a 63% ratio this season #5 overall, compared to Alabama's 80), and we're at 61% already in this class, with a high likelihood of ending up at +70% if we were to add the expected 4-5 stars that most seem to think are likely. Relative to what we'll lose, we will likely break even and stick near 63-65ish... though that number may rise still depending on this year's class.

As seems to often happen around these parts when we get into more nuanced subjects adjacent to UGA recruiting, we're starting to jump way off topic in the recruiting thread again... there is another thread that has a lot of info on Mullen's recruiting history/track record at Miss St HERE...

As either Americus or NC noted in this thread previouosly, Mullen wasn't considered a *great* recruiter during his time at UF. He'll likely improve things there with the immediate buzz of the hire, but if it takes them another 2-3 years to sort out the QB situation, that's going to spell trouble.

quote:

Maybe, but you also have to consider....he did at MState what no other coach has done at MState. I mean, they all had the softer schedules, etc. Mullen won when thye couldn't. Doesn't mean it will translate at Florida, but you should definitely see an uptick at Florida over McElwaine.

This has been repeated ad nauseum but it doesn't make it any more accurate than it was the first time. He's been *good* but not as great there as many seem to think.. see linked thread for more complete breakdown.

In non, Mullen related news, for the pessimists out there:

Wondered if he might look elsewhere depending on our status with Alontae Taylor... Americus/Sumter, you guys have any thoughts on this one? Still probably solid for us and just entertaining visits or actually a chance he may open it back up (Ole Miss was thought to be the school he was going to commit to originally prior to the chaos I believe)?

No inside info on Moore, but I know his senior year/tape hasn't been quite as explosive as some hoped. I always thought he might be a guy who could end up wanted more elsewhere. If it played out as him swapped for alontae taylor, I think we get the better end of them deal there.

Kids love visits, websites love clicks. Haven't heard anything, but there's a few that won't make it that would love his spot.

Sounds about like what I figured... if he were to leave, I am sure Kirby has a few lined up to take the spot at this point.

Yes sir. Lots to look forward to. Staff changes happen, so that's been fun to look after.

No stone unturned with Kirby. We'll see

Wait, is Corral getting happy feet? I'd imagine he'd want to play for USC, since he's a left coast guy, but what do I know?

Can't do that when you show up drunk for a visit, "allegedly".

Seems Mullen is going after Auburn's commit......

Been saying there's a chance Corral didn't end up there, and it appears Mullen has other interests.

Florida was beating their chest about their class earlier in the year. I said months ago that their top three offensive commits would sign elsewhere.

Copeland and chase have already decommitted. Corral won't end up in their class.
