I agree sandwhich....Justin Fields is all dawg.
However, to call Mullen a mediocre coach is not correct. The man took Miss. State to the number one ranking at one point. Who in their right freaking mind wants to go to freaking Mississippi State? The simple fact that Mullen won 60 percent of his games with talent that very few other wanted is well beyond mediocre. Mullen is dang good but Grantham won’t recruit to get the defense to elite levels. Manny Diaz was the best thing Mullen had at Miss. State as far as a coach.
Florida will grow tired of Mullen falling short to Georgia after 4 years and they will want his head on the chopping block. Dude is a great coaching though.

Uh oh. That doesn't sound good. Its a safe be that he is looking elsewhere. Wonder if our QB situation is concerning to him?
And in the same article he says he doesn’t know if he’ll take any officials and that he is 100% going to Georgia. Our QB situation is the exact same as when he committed. He has zero relationship with Dan Mullen. fricking Christ, guys. We have to re be the most neurotic fan base on the planet.

No doubt about it. Sky is always falling on some here it seems. Just got to find the humor in it.

It is hilarious. I swear some people just look for things to be miserable about.

He is 2-34 against ranked teams or something like that. He's good but I don't know if he'll do great at UF.

He is less weird than MacElwain. I expect him to stabilize the program, but certainly not to take it back to the Urban Meyer days.
The most baffling thing is that people in the same breath say:
1. He won all those games with 2 and 3 star talent (Not true. Go look at their roster)
2. He isn't a great recruiter (Overstated)
3. He is suddenly an elite recruiter, will flip our top commit, etc. (Patently ridiculous and also clashes with first two suppositions)
He will recruit better than MacElwain. Most coaches can do that. I don't expect him to start taking scalps head to head with Kirby anytime soon. We have seen in the last few years that very few people do that.

Beat Jackson State/Middle Tennessee/Louisiana Tech/Alabama in non-conference. 4 wins.
Beat cross division permanent opponent Kentucky. 1 win.
Have a losing record in the other 7 games....
Great year at Miss State! Awesome coach! One of the best in the conference!
He got Mississippi State to #1
So Miss-W
UAB-W
South Alabama-W
8.LSU-w......LSU ended with 5 losses that year. Not good.
6.Texas A&M-W....aTM ended with 5 losses that year. Not good.
2.Auburn-W.....ended with 5 losses that year. Not good.
Kentucky-W
Arkansas-W
#1 in the nation
5.Alabama-L.....lost in playoff, 12-2
18.Ole Miss-L...finished 9-4
10.Georgia Tech-L....finished 11-3
Yeah, great coach.

He had a 60 percent win rate at Mississippi State. Enough said.

Derp... Nevermind all of the information that has been shown to illustrate that the win percentage is less impressive than you think. No one is saying he's an awful coach... but if you think he's a "great coach" simply due to his W/L record at Miss St, you're mistaken.

Man. No other coach has ever been successful at Mississippi State right?
Jackie Sherril
1991(7-5)
1992(7-5)-finsihed #23
1993(4-5-2)
1994(8-4)-finished #24
1995(3-8)
1996(5-6)
1997(7-4)
1998(8-5)
1999(10-2)-finished #13
2000(8-4)-finished #24
Dan Mullen
2009(5-7)
2010(9-4)-finished #15
2011(7-6)
2012(8-5)
2013(7-6)
2014(10-3)-finished #11
2015(9-4)
2016(6-7)
2017(8-4)
Kinda similar right? Let's not forget Sherrill coached when there were only 11 games, so he didnt get the extra game every year against South Alabama or Tennessee Martin like Mullen got.

True and I get your point, but Sherill also didn't coach in the SEC when it was considered the premier conference but a wide margin. So competition for Mullen i'd argue was competition, especially in the West.

I contributed to it, but let's move the discussion of Mullen's success or lack thereof out of the recruiting thread if possible.
There has already been decent discussion on it here (most of what devils and myself have stated is included there already):

Just an FYI Mullen is visiting Fields today...sounds like there's more to this than just fans panicking over nothing
I still think Fields is a Dawg in the end but it may end up being another Eason type recruitment

Depends on if that's an in-home or school visit.

You do know that fan is short for fanatic. Every fan base is like that. I'm not losing any sleep over a recruit. I just happen to be a glass half-empty guy when it comes to UGA football, and it's a character flaw. So be it. It would sting to lose a Justin Fields, if we somehow lost him. It would suck to high heaven to lose him to a Florida.

He'd be stupid not to. Coaches will continue to visit Fields at school. If they're invited by the family for an in-home, that's another matter.

It's a bad move by Mullen. He is not flipping Fields, and by visiting him first, he is spitting in Corrals face and may end up without a QB commit.
Posted on 11/28/17 at 1:30 pm to NCDawg52
IDK, not sure well Corral fits his system in any case.
Posted on 11/28/17 at 1:55 pm to Crowknowsbest
Corral isn’t the athlete that he needs for his system. Fields is the perfect fit but won’t get him.
Won’t get his guy until next year unless he snags a lower tier diamond in the rough.
