I understand your point, but Kirby comes from a program that mastered this, hence some would say why these rules are being changed.

Check this out.
Four years- 100 commits
Attrition rate- 10-15%
Hopefully you redshirt 30-40%

You can always fill with transfers (starting safety), grad transfers(punter) or give scholly to a walk-on as well. None of those count toward the 25.

Kirby has shown that through transfers and the PWO/Hope program Schumann runs that his "bottom of the roster" management is really good. Not only do I think we have no problem going forward staying at 85 scholarships, I expect that numbers 70-85 on the scholly roster will be contributors, which has certainly not always been the case are Georgia

Ok, I understand a little better now. And yes, Kirby learned from the master for sure.

From another poster at another board:

From Rusty:

"I am expecting Mel Tucker at American Heritage on Friday night to see Five-Star CB Tyson Campbell play. Talking again with our South Florida expert this morning Luke Stampini, he thinks UGA is trending right now with him."

Time for the 2018 class to take off! How great would it be to pull another top 3 class? Hell 2017 is already playing fantastically.

Well assuming we get Anderson I'm pretty worried about DT because I doubt TT stays for his Senior year. Any elite DT we have a shot with?

He might not, but it wouldn't surprise me if he did. I mean, if he misses any more time with injury, especially. He needs to prove to the NFL that he can stay healthy all year. He's a great player and could go, but I wouldn't be shocked if he did not.

Great point. There is no comparison really if you grab an old roster.

Good to see others know how good our scout team is. Little known fact.

People don't realize that we are utilizing the unique scholarship opportunities the state of Georgia provides to bring in "walk ons" that could be significant contributors at G5 and FCS schools. Plucking three or four kids each year that would otherwise have gone to Georgia Southern, Tulane, etc pays HUGE dividends in the quality of practice reps and overall sharpness of the team.

For example, Georgia has done a great job at stopping dual threat quarterbacks this year. Lots of factors go into that, but one factor is that the scout team is being run by Stetson Bennett, a DT QB who came to Georgia as a walk on instead of taking one of the several D1 offers he had.

Attention to detail at all levels of the organization. That's the new way of doing business. Great times ahead.
