Stricklin. Frickin Stricklin. Knows we have a doubleheader so he runs our guys around the bases like a maniac during the hottest part of the day, ensuring a worn out ball club before we even take his field tonight.

Non-hyerbole post

I 100% think Stricklin lucked into this team. He's still making bonehead decisions in a game against inferior competition.

First, shouldnt have taken Adkins out that quickly. Secondly, ok bring in Locey, but after he finishes the 4th, we open it up. Take him out. Dont let him pitch what? 3+ more innings, with at least 60 more pitches. He's now probably done for the weekend now, and it was used up in a game that was in the bag.

Disagree about Adkins; he was toast by inning 3 and needed to be pulled. Locey was the right call but I do agree that they left him in way too long given the scoreboard. Only rationale I can come up with is that Stricklin didn't want to use any more arms than he had to given that his starter only lasted 3 innings.

Troy is a much bigger hitting threat which may necessitate some late inning pitching matchups. His decision making can certainly be questioned but I don't think it has set the team up for failure (Locey can be a good strikeout pitcher but he can also be a liability if his placement isn't there).

Either way, Fire Stricklin

Campbell is putting it on duke in the Elimination game but just went into a lightning delay in the 6th inning. So unless they call it early UGA won’t play until 9 tonight at earliest if I had to guess

Technically they could call it because it has been a complete game already but doubt they will. This is a tiny cell moving through east of Athens so it shouldn’t delay things too much

Tarps coming out in Athens. Cell has now appeared over Athens that won't move past Foley until around 8:10. Dawgs may not start til 10PM at this point if we even play again tonight.

ETA: Honestly, they should just call the Campbell-Duke game but I doubt they will since it means the ending of Duke's season

Campbell and Duke finally resumed at 8:15. At best, they move quickly through the 7th, 8th, and 9th and the Dawgs can play as early as 10PM. At worst, we get bumped to tomorrow morning again.

frick weather, frick the NCAA, and fire stricklin

Yeeeeeeeeah there's no way we're playing this game tonight. Duke is trying to mount a comeback and both of these teams seem to bluff to second on every fricking pitch. If we start tonight, it'll barely be before the 11PM cutoff

Yeah, the top half of the seventh was around 30 minutes.

Well, if Campbell holds on to win I'd have to think we'd go into tomorrow with an advantage. Campbell has spent all damn day today playing for their lives and Troy hasn't played in over 24 hours.

Sucks though that we're likely going to have to pull 2 wins in a double header if we want to win this regional

Finally to the 8th in Duke vs Campbell. Campbell is home team in this one so barring a 5 run collapse we only have 3 more innings to suffer through

What are the rules with regards to how late we can start a game?

Can't start after 11PM and NCAA rules state that it's 55 minutes between games. So, if we cross the 10:05PM mark with this game it's done for the evening. If they want, they can call it even earlier than that. I'd guess that if this game is still going at 9:45 then we're not playing tonight

What's the reasoning for the 55 minute mandate between games if nether team is involved in the prior game? Is it just warm up time?

They have to give the teams time to warm up, ground crews time to redo the infield, and they clear the stadium after every game and make everyone re-enter with that particular game's ticket. Plus they have to give the Umps, TV crew, concessions folks, etc a break
