Lets just put it like this. If the staff continues to recruit at a high level. We won't have to wait another 35 years for a title. The entire state has a buzz about UGA football again and the kids in state are responding. If we can minimize the amount of big time recruits leaving the state we have a damn good chance to not only win titles but to regularly be in the mix. UGA has the resources, we have the name, we have the fertile recruiting stable, now we just need to get it all working like a fine tuned machine. If we do, UGA will be on the map.

We can hate Bama all we want but they do it right. The don't want to play for titles, they expect to play for titles.

Of the current top 15 players in GA according to 247:

-3 are committed to UGA
-7 could be considered moderate to heavy UGA leans
-1 is committed elsewhere
-1 is a likely lean elsewhere
-3 I don't really know much about

We could easily (as in, without much "holy crap, where'd that come from?) finish with 10-12 of the top 15 guys in state. And this is just kirby's first full recruiting cycle...

Not doubting you at all, but could you tell us lazy asses who those top 15 are and where they fall in your example? I don't feel like looking it up.

1)Deangelo Gibbs- Probably UT due to family, but he really really likes us. Family is our big road block here.
2)Richard LeCounte- UGA commit
3)Robert Beal- probably UGA
4)Nate McBride- strong UGA lean
5)Jamyest Williams- Idk, but poole said publicly he's gonna be working on JW hard
6)Jake Fromm- UGA commit
7)Andrew Thomas- UGA lean
8)Davis Mills- Stanford Commit
9)William Poole- UGA Commit
10) Dantne Demery- idk
11) Aubrey Solomon- idk
12) Tony Gray- idk, but he has 100% crystal balls to UGA
13) Malik Herring- UGA seems to be in good shape
14) Netori Johnson- previously had AU as the leader but we're trending big time
15) Trey Sermon- idk

Clemson lean last I heard. I'll believe we get a kid from Archer when I see the paper signed and faxed

Agreed. I just don't see it happening. But we're not going to get them all, and missing on a DB this year doesn't hurt so bad. The class is loaded at DB.

Crazy on thomas. I'm right down the road from Pace and I just can't see how a guy here can be an hour from Athens, with all the insance momentum we have, plus the best in the biz in pittman, plus a glaring need for OLmen, and not come here.

He just said the other day the UGA and Clemson are basically tied. Clemson is pretty appealing right now if we're being honest.

All the more reason why you can't go losing out on arguably two of the best DBs in the country, let alone the state, to programs like Tennessee and Clemson. Poole and Lecounte are only one half of a defensive backfield we could really, really lean on for years

For as much crap as I give Tennessee for being a hillbilly school, they have a much more understandable appeal than somewhere like Clemson. Clemson is home to a bunch of pig fricking weirdos

Jake at Rivals was posting about a conversation he had with Mecole before the game Saturday. Jake said something to him about Elijah not being there and Mecole told him he had prom. Then Jake said something to him about how Elijah was the only one from the '16 class not there, to which Mecole said, "yeah, him and Demetrius".

The buzz I heard around UGA's camp was that Demetris was ours the moment he left his visit. Finally got his mom and brother on board with the academics, sister was treated very well by the track folks, and of course Demetris has always felt at home with the current coaches, players, and recruits. Granted, anything could happen with this kid but holy hell what a start to a HC career if Kirby reels Demetris in to cap off what is already an outstanding 2016 class on the heels of a historic spring game. Literally couldn't be going any better within reason

What would that make? 4 or 5 five stars? Have we ever had that many in a class? In the year of a coaching change to boot. Pretty damn strong.

I agree. I realize he had others to point to, but if Smart pulls in Demetris, he would be the big player that he could point to and say that HE brought in with little to no help from the previous staff. And what a pull. Robertson could be the player to give added depth we need. He would be a huge get, and Smart would be the reason.
