Not to be a downer, but including Solomon seems extremely optimistic

He's rooming with Holloman and hanging with about 6 of our guys at the Army All American game. Hopefully the pressure leads him home.

Good post from Rockwelder on 247 comparing this years haul vs the '11 dream team along with several other cool tidbits...

quote:
Here’s a straight up comparison from numbers from 247.
2011 – 7th nationally, 3rd SEC, 90.02 avg., 2 5-stars, 10 4-stars, 13 3-stars. In state – 5 of Top 10, 9 of Top 20.
2016 (as of right now) -- 3rd nationally (although Rivals, Scout, and ESPN each has Dawgs 2nd, 247 composite is 3rd somehow), 2nd SEC, 93.72 avg., 2 5-stars, 17 4-stars, 3 3-stars. In state – 5 of Top 10, 13 of Top 20.
It's not really close.
RE: in-state recruits –
Take another look at the Top 20 (again, as of right now). Bama with 1, no Auburn, no Tennessee, no Florida, no FSU, no Clemson (they do have 3 4-star GA recruits).
On only 6 occasions has a state school pulled in 10 or more of the state’s Top 20 where they were all ranked as 4-star+ recruits.
On two occasions, the school had 10: USC in 2003 and Texas in 2004. On two occasions the school had 11: Ohio State in 2002 and Texas in 2007.
Before today, the most impressive Top 20 in-state haul by any school: Les Miles and last year’s LSU class with 13 4-star + recruits.
Now, in his 2nd year (and 1st full one), Kirby has equaled that haul with 13 of the Top 20, with the opportunity to get more.
If he adds 1 more in-state Top 20 recruit, he will have done something that hasn’t been done before.

Looks like we are taking LSUs place in the SEC

I think this is what most of us hoped for when Smart was hired; improved recruiting. I'm not sold on Chaney but our defense looks much improved under Mel Tucker. If we can just build a solid OL, this team might actually be a contender in a couple of years.

Bumped into Coach Pittman a few days ago. Congratulated him on the big uglies he's lined up in SicEm'17 and he lit up like a Christmas tree. Could tell he is stoked about his inbound recruits. Got a chance to chat for just a couple minutes. Seems like a great dude.

Supposedly we're going to get another commit early this week. Crazy that almost all of our recruiting will be done before signing day.

I believe we're still in the running for Warner, Bryant, Collins and Solomon. Rumor of a possible flip from Jaymest. Am I leaving anyone out? How many available spots do we still have open with McKenzie leaving?
Posted on 1/2/17 at 9:32 am to smokehouse_83
Exactly. With Rice it's slightly different just because he's an EE so he's gotta make a decision today or tomorrow if he's gonna flip, but I wouldn't be surprised if the heat is being turned wayyyyyyyyyyyy up on guys like Collins Solomon Jamyest Bryant and Warner
