Throwing out offers like candy this year. Good or bad philosophy?
Posted on 2/19/15 at 7:47 pm to OptimusDawg
Great philosophy for out of state. That's what people do to the state of Georgia every year because they won't have to face the firing squad if a kid tries to commit and then they discover it wasn't a committable offer. I remember one year Vandy threw out over 300 offers in our state alone. And that was one of their best recruiting seasons in years.

Stole this from the MSB board, but I think that this quote should be in every letter sent to a QB recruit from here on out
quote:
quote: It is a big thing. Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians colorfully described how much of a transition spread quarterbacks have to make. "So many times, you're evaluating a quarterback who has never called a play in the huddle, never used a snap count," Arians said. "They hold up a card on the sideline, he kicks his foot and throws the ball. That ain't playing quarterback. There's no leadership involved there. There might be leadership on the bench, but when you get them and they have to use verbiage and they have to spit the verbiage out and change the snap count, they are light years behind."

Sometimes you won't know how interested a player is until you give him that offer.

We are offering ALOT of guys. More offers given than the entire 2015 class. I can't tell whether I like this strategy or not. I just don't want to be one of those teams where we'd have to tell a kid its not a commitable offer when he wants to commit

We offered Jamyest today along with about 10 other guys. Most of them in the class of 2017, but still a few in this class. I'll post them all later today.
