Blake Sailors was experienced, doesn't mean I want him back there.

Well, if you take a good team and make it better then it may be a great team. Better is better, and if you're close to achieving your goals then better might be good enough.

That team was way more talented defensively than what UGA currently is. Not a good example.

More experience is a positive for the team no matter how talented the individual athletes are. I can't tell if you honestly believe that experience is not important in successful outcomes. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.

I clearly don't think we're as close as you do. I don't think we have anywhere close to a championship secondary right now.

I don't think you're actually reading what I'm saying. I've never once said that experience doesn't help or isn't important. I think talent is more important and determines how valuable that experience can be.

Yea, basically experience helps you reach your ceiling, talent determines just how high that ceiling is.

It depends on how much talent and experience he has vs your other options. But it's undeniable that experience can compensate for ability. Which prevails depends on the circumstance.

It doesn't matter exactly how close you think we are. If we can keep players on roster, that increased experience gets us closer. That's how you achieve goals, find ways to improve.

Well, the point you initially made, to which I responded was that experience was "extremely overrated without talent". My point is that experience, especially at the college level, makes every player better no matter how much talent they have. They're on the steep part of the learning curve. As such, experience is extremely important for the function of a college team. I'm reading what you're saying; I just disagree.

Sometimes yes, but I'll take a 4* or 5* recruit over most of what we have in our backfield right now.

I feel like this guy would argue for JHC to be benched for Connor Norman

And yeah, I get the feeling he would argue that Towns should start over Conley.

Nope, Connor Norman only played two or three games at safety in his entire career. He was a rookie with book learning, which is not the same as playing experience. Throw in his lack of talent and you have a disaster.

But, if you can gain incremental improvements in experience across an entire football team, you will have a signficantly better team because every player on that team, no matter how talented, will be better because they're more experienced.

While you guys are ruining the Recruiting thread, Prince Tega just suffered a Prothro-esque injury playing basketball. Kid's leg is in very bad shape.

Yup. Sailors and Norman were not experienced-- chill out with that.

The point bro is making is closer to like MM26 vs Godwin.

Who do you think will be more valuable next season?

Well, the post that started this debate said that, in typical Georgia fashion, the wheels of our recruiting class are about to come off in a major fricking way. I started out trying to dispute that point, but I've slowly come to realize that the future of our program hangs on a couple of three star recruits who are probably already gone. Maybe it's best that we have long philosophical debates in this thread for the next few weeks, to avoid having to face our bleak future.
