Howell must be a monster for us to recruit him now. Otherwise I don't get it at all

6-9 ready to start tackle? Maybe they know Kolton is losing his appeal for a 6th year

I took it as we want as much competition and big healthy linemen on the roster as possible. We will see if he actually comes or not..

A 5* OL can make 3* QBs/RBs look like world-beaters, while 3* OL will typically make 5* skill players look like garbage, or at the minimum work their asses off merely to appear serviceable. (Obvious exceptions like TG3 always exist).

I'm not debating the merits of a good OL. I just don't think it makes sense with out current numbers. We need DBs a hell of a lot more than another OL right now, especially with things looking good for Chidi

ETA- and we already have one JUCO OT committed. Not sure we need two unless this guy is a monster, early round pick kind of player

I totally agree on the DB issue. I think I'm just scarred from the last 7ish years of OL play that began with Trinton Sturdivant's first ACL tear. As a result, I want CWF to stack those thick MFers up in the Butts-Mehre basement like firewood.

When 247 ranks him as a top 10 OT, is that overall or top 10 JUCO?

ETA: looks like a JUCO ranking....

We aren't losing that many off the OL are we?

Maybe the staff doesn't have a ton of faith in Houston and Theus' replacements after next year...I'm okay with it..

Who would be candidates to play Tackle after they leave? Theres DeVondre Seymour, Kendall Baker, Pat Allen, and possibly Valentine-Okeke..But then I'm sorta drawing a blank.

We do lose Beard, Dantzler, Debell, Ward after this year at OT as well...so some older depth there wouldn't hurt

Sims, Seymour, Baker, Allen, Hardin, Chidi hopefully, whoever we sign next year

I'm not opposed to taking another OT necessarily, just not sure about a JUCO if the goal is to build depth

That's how I feel about the Falcons refusal to draft Dawgs and/or the SEC in general...

Maybe Gurley falls to the 3rd and the Falcons can pick him up after addressing O line and pass rush in rounds 1 and 2??

One can dream, right?.... right?
