Yes, we're not recruiting the behemoths much any more.

I feel like the reason that we're not only going after zero technique nose tackles anymore is because we're preparing for the inevitable departure of CTG. This is just a theory, but I believe one of the reasons for the CCW hire was that he had experience as a DC. I can see an in house promotion when Grantham leaves. I also think that the defense will convert to a base 4-2-5 while still running some 3-4 since CCW has more experience with the 4-3. That and it's hard to find 335 lb high schoolers, but I believe several guys on the line will grow into monsters.

Great frickin' post...I think you nailed it...

I agree with everything but promoting Chris Wilson. Great Oline coach, terrible DC.

Yeah I'm not saying that I think that CCW would be a good DC, but given CMR's history with hires I think smell what they're cooking.

True but I think he's learned his lesson with the WM hire and will get someone from the outside, hopefully.

I hope so man. I hope so. All I really know is that I got a fever and the only prescription is more football.

Wilson was TERRIBLE as DC at MSU. Of CTG leaves, I have to pray that we find a coach from outside our current staff.

Any hope Coach O could fill in?
Posted on 6/25/13 at 7:54 pm to tylerdurden24
There is a hope, but he has no previous DC experience. I for one am not comfortable with a guy cutting his teeth as our DC.

Me neither. I would hope we would have learned but you never know.
Also if any of you have a twitter, you need to follow John Lilly. He's a really funny guy and a solid follow. If you don't have twitter, get with it son.

Yeah, I follow Lilly. I think he might be my favorite coach...great guy, great coach, and great recruiter.

Yep, he's the kind of guy you love to have in the program.

Well, ain't this some shite? (from ESPN)
quote:
Lorenzo Carter (Norcross, Ga./Norcross), the nation's No. 3 defensive end, spent this past weekend on Ohio State's campus. Carter didn't leave Columbus with a positive impression of the Buckeyes. "I didn’t really get to see anything," Carter told Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "None of the coaches were there. Coach (Urban) Meyer left before I got there. Nobody was there. It was just (offensive coordinator Tom Herman), the coach who recruits me -- he was there with his son. We just walked around their football building and saw the indoor field and the practice fields. Then we got dinner. When I woke up, (defensive line coach Mike Vrabel) came. We ate breakfast, went by the stadium and Buckeye Grove. And that’s it. We left. Ohio State was just a drive-through. We didn’t really do anything. "It was kind of disappointing but it was whatever."

Is anyone here a member of 247 sports?

Made me laugh that the coach came when he woke up. Ew.

Wanting to know about the Carter story on 247? He's likely taking it to NSD.
Florida is on his good side. They're the only OV that he'll name right now.
For the good guys, Coach Mac is in his ear all the time.
Deshaun Watson is talking up Clemson to him.
He has no one top school.
