Brooks County cornerback Malkom Parrish brought home the defensive skill MVP, and it was well-earned. Parrish had at least four interceptions on the day and only once did a receiver get enough separation to haul in a pass. After today, Parrish may lay claim to the top defensive back in the Peach State.

UGA in great shape with him. He's blowing up right now, but UGA got in on him early.

McMillan can take a flying leap, IMO. Eff himself in the ear till his tiny brain rattles.

I agree. I'd take Reggie Carter, Ryne rankin, and Johnny O'Neal for the next 3-4 years over him any day.

I love the guys we have now, but no reason to be butt hurt about Raekwon. I listened to the whole interview and I really did not sense the "attitude" that others claim he exhibited. With that being said I think he is as close to a Ohio St. lock as you can get.

It's not lack of trying on our part, just a bad fit for someone looking for early pt. This also leads me to believe this is why we backed off. Say what you will but at least he is up front and not leading us down a primrose path only to frick us over on NSD.

That we fell because we backed off him, looking for early pt etc. Said him and CMR talked about life outside football etc.

IMO people are overreacting to the comments he made about our lack of ability to keep the best guys In state.

I think he finally realized that he was pretty far down on UGA's RB board. The two sides haven't had regular contact in a few months.

I will give him this much, definitely. Damn I hate the last second decommits. I just don't see why he even bothered stating publicly the whole thing about in-state talent. It was just a stupid thing to say.

It was for an article that Radi Nabulsi was working on for ESPN's Dawgnation. He asked the top talent from the state to put thier thoughts on the program at UGA on Twitter. He was using the quotes in the article.

He committed after his freshman year. It seems clear that as things developed with guys like Michel, Chubb, Choice, Hood, even Darrel Williams, that Stanley Williams was not a priority for UGA. He got passed, basically. They are better than he is. UGA would have taken 2 more regardless, essentially forcing SW to look at other options. I doubt the staff was happy with that "60% committed" BS either.

I believe he was a very soft commit to say the least. Committed guys don't fabricate a recruiting trip to South Bend that never actually happened. That is all the we know, but where there is smoke there is fire, and IMO the staff decided he was no longer worth their time/effort.

OT posts guess how many recruits we'll aim for by position, to total 22.

I see only 10 recruited scholarship seniors on this fall's team, plus 2 or 3 senior walkons who may not be able to keep their scholarships if most or all of the remaining incoming 20 are eligible.

The most I see us being able to bring in would be 17, and even that is a stretch. The problem is the cap of 85.

How many at each position? 2 or 3 RBs, 1 TE, 1 or 2 WR, 3 OL, 4 DL, 2 OLB, 1 ILB, 1 CB, 1 S.

RBs We lose no seniors on scholarship (Harton=walkon). Most SEC schools can afford carrying 6 or 7 RBs. We could bring in 3 by moving Douglas to FB. We'd have 2 likely to leave after the next year, anyway, so we could redshirt a couple RBs, and they'd have lots of reps the year after "Gurshall" leave.

TE Replace Lynch 1

WR We only need 1 or 2, max. Replace Wooten, probably Mitchell who leaves early, but how many can we play? Including JJ Green, we're bringing in 6! Rico, Trammel, Reggie Davis, Rumph, LeMay.
Without Mitchell, we'd still have Bennett, Conley, Tibbs, Wesley, 10. 11 if Mitchell stays for his 4th year.

OL We have 17, so even if we lose 1 OL early and all 4 seniors, we'll need 3 OLs who are solid to come in, and keep us 3 deep on the OL. If we get a whole lot of 4 or 5 stars wanting to come, I guess we could drop the incoming WR or RB numbers to make room for 4 OLs.

DL we only have 8 DLs and will lose 1. We'll need 4 just to get to 11 DLs. I think at some point we'll need to go to 12 DLs, just in case some of our guys leave early for the pros.

OLB we lose 2. Replace 1 or 2 of them. We'll keep JJ, Deloach, Dawson, Floyd, Bellamy, McGee. That's 6. If we play a lot of dime defenses, do we need 8 OLBs.

ILB we lose none. Bring in 1 to get our number up to 8.

CB We lose none. We have 4 or 5 new CBs, Swann and two sophomores. We're young, so we only need one.

S We lose none. We'll need 1, no more. JHC, Matthews, Deas, Moore, Mauger, Paris, Fluker, Kennar. That's 8. 1 more would make 9, but we'd be losing 4 the next year, so bring in another to soften the blow next year.

Coaches should always look to bring in 3 or 4 over the 85 limit. There will always be players declare for the draft, RS Jr's who graduate and know they won't get much PT so they leave, transfers, and tPOS's who will act up and get kicked off.

Between 20-22 sounds about right.

Rusty Mansell just dropped a big ol' kool-ade bomb over at 247. Rusty is usually spot on and isn't a sunshine pumper, but what he just posted made errbody a little giddy.
