5* Star Runningback Sony Michel to UGA? 2013-04-03 - 04:32 | Socrates | Heritage-Sony-Michel-running-Hallandale-300x215 Sony Michel has long been our number #1 running back recruit in this year’s 2014 class and as many of you know I have enjoyed the privilege of watching Michel work out and practice. What amazes me is Sony’s ability to cut on a dime, maintaining full speed. Sony will also run right between the tackles, make his cut and streak to the endzone.
Little doubt our readers at FSF, have known of my fondness for Michel. We continue to follow his recruitment with coaches in his area and this is the latest update with my questions to the coaches:
So why would Michel commit now? Simple answer is he is sick of the process and is making up his mind. Michel has been recruited since the 8th grade by many teams.
So once Michel commits will he be like so many other National Recruits and entertain other schools? According to the coaches I have spoken with, no. They say Michel is a serious minded young man who has put a great deal of time, effort and thought into this decision. They say once he commits he will shut down recruiting.
As of yesterday who are the four main Players for Michel’s commitment? Right now those players are UGA, Miami, Notre Dame and FSU.
When will Michel commit? This has been all over the map with some saying before April 15th, other experts say by May 1st, and another group state Michel will commit before Summer Camp for High School teams. I pressed the coaches I spoke with and they seemed to think after Track season ends that Michel will announce his commitment. So we will go with the around May 1st group.
Who does he commit to? Well one would think that Georgia is the logical choice here. Coach Brian McClendon has been with Michel since the 9th grade (many schools have), but the difference is that Brian has been at UGA the whole time. So many schools have changed coaches that were recruiting Michel with new staff members and only McClendon from any of Michel’s favorites been the constant with Michel. The Coaches told me that some members of Michel’s family want him away from the area, others want he at the home town school Miami. They also say that Notre Dame has been consistent in their recruitment of Michel, and FSU has made a late surge.
What do we feel the odds are for UGA? Speaking with the Coaches this looks very favorable for UGA. One coach said he would be shocked if Michel did not choose UGA as that is all he talks about. So the odds look very good that Michel ends up in the Red and Black. GATA ALWAYS

Rumors are Chubb is cancelling trip to UT and will be at G-day. Might be our next commit.

If he comes to G-Day I think that's a pretty safe bet

I enjoy recruiting as much as the next guy, but if that is what does it for you; you are not that next guy.

I too am excited about that possibility though. Those 2 (Michel & Chubb) in the back field would let us transition to life after Gurshall in the backfield with little to no speed bumps.

Big weekend for visits. Per Kipp on ESPN a lot of big time recruits, most notably Chubb, Raekwon McMillan and Dante Sawyer will be in Athens.
This may be our best chance to make up some ground on Raekwon. If we don't hit a home run this weekend, I think it will be impossible to close on Ohio St and Clemson.

UGA just needs to stay in range. We might actually have a better chance if he does commit to OSU or Clemson, eliminating one of them. I like UGA's chances late in the game against OSU. The home stretch favors the school close to home

Yeah, cutting our ties for our top targets is definitely the best decision right now though. I'm actually glad he did it this early because I believe Chubb will be at G-day tomorrow. With that said, I hope Boom goes to the ACC.
