i'd love to go there or see the largest tank battle of kursk but idk if i wanna really go to russia. i'm biased and have always been a western front fan. i also have a weird fascination with the Italian campaign

stalingrad though will probably be the largest single engagement in human history

I used to have a hard-on for the Western front, but the Russia-Germany feud was motherfrickin brutal and in the grand scheme of the War story, it was the first time you rally saw the Nazis start to wet themselves. The atrocities Germans committed in Western Russia were only matched by the ungodly punishments of the Japanese against the Chinese. And the Russians never forgot it. Russian revenge sentiments fueled their harsh occupation of Berlin during the Cold War.

All in all, the Eastern European part of the war was not only a turning point in world power, but a turning point in the brutality of humanity in what was supposed to be a "better" world since the atrocities of WWI.

And while I've never been all that into the Italian campaigns, I have always had a fascination with North Africa.

Apparently had a change of heart and reopened his commitment a few hours after committing.

LINK WTF??

quote:

Is Kelsey Griffin committed to UGA?

According to his high school coach on early Friday evening, the answer is “no.”

Here’s what Mill Creek’s Shannon Jarvis told the AJC via text message:

“We are about to load our buses for tonight’s game so I will not be able to call. Please know that Kelsey is NOT committed to UGA right now. I know this may sound crazy, but it is the facts.”

quote:

Earlier on Friday morning, Griffin sat with his parents at an impromptu press conference at Mill Creek and told reporters from ESPN, Scout and Rivals that he had committed to UGA. It was all captured on video.

“I just decided to commit there; It had been weighing on my heart to commit to the place where I want to be the most … .and it happened to be the University of Georgia,” Griffin told Scout’s Kristen Ledlow on Friday morning.

From the ESPN article....

quote:

When it comes to the rest of the recruiting process for Griffin, he wants to make it clear that a commitment from him is something that he considers final.

“A commitment for me means the end of the process,” he said. “I’m going to handle it as responsibility and respectfully as I can, but Georgia is where I am going to sign.”

If you tell Kelsey Griffin "No," it'd better be because Toby Johnson and Monty Adams are stone cold locks to sign

There's simply no way in hell we told him no. He's on of our top DE's on the board and he's the type of kid you take on the spot regardless.

Anyone who told you he was not a take is either full of shite or retarded. Or both.

Per Fox Sports & the ABH...

Kid tapes his announcement, family in tears of joy, smiles all around.....now this. The Griffins are mortified, and UGA doesn't look good at all regardless of their level of responsibility in this debacle. Bad day for the program... IF... this how it went down...

quote:

After announcing he would verbally commit to Georgia on Friday, Mill Creek senior defensive lineman Kelsey Griffin is still without a college team, according to his father.

Griffin, rated by Fox Sports Next as a four-star lineman, offered his verbal to commitment to Georgia, but the school declined the offer, Griffin’s father told Fox Sports Next.

That's what I got. Sounds like he tried to give us his verbal and we said that the offer had expired or something. Don't know what to make of this, cause from everything that has come out so far Montravius Adams is a long shot for us.

Henry breaks Florida H.S. record for rushing yards in a game...

502 rushing yards and 6 tds in the game...

By the numbers

48 rushes for 502: yards Friday. State single-game record was 501.

9,255: career yards for Henry. He passed Emmitt Smith (8,804) on all-time list.

38: straight 100-yard games, one shy of national record.

Fellas, as far as Kelsey Griffin goes, I am just as disappointed as most of you as to how it went down. From what I have read on another insider's board, it does look like he will be in Athens to talk to the coaches face to face this weekend. We should have some closure on the situation sometime Sunday. I hope everything works out for the him, he seems like a good kid and definitely does not deserve to be embarrassed like he was yesterday. Also for the record, I still hope we get him.

Too bad the school can't officially talk about it. Some are saying he didn't notify anyone at UGA that he was committing & we weren't ready for him to do so, maybe still a coupla things up in the air(grades, etc.)...

I've also heard that he should be a Dawg in the end...
