TBH, I’m more excited about what joining the SEC is going to do for our baseball program than I am football.
If I rank football as a 10, I give baseball a 9. Basketball is about a 2 for me.
But to me, Texas Baseball is as steeped as Bevo when it comes to Longhorn folklore. I love it.

Lefty, with power. Great behind the plate. Excellent pickup.

Texas ends up with the No. 2 recruiting class in both the Perfect Game and Baseball America rankings.

Are any of these kids gonna play for Texas? Seems like a lot will be drafted.. I guess you just fill with the portal when guys sign with MLB,
Looks like an elite group tho.. we have needed to bridge the talent gap.

Schloss is absolutely killing it. Signed the #2 class for 2025 and has the clear cut #1 class for 2026

Freshman LHP Dylan Volantis (99) really impressed me on Sunday. I think he has a good chance to be a weekend starter by the time league play rolls around.
Friday - LHP Spencer
Saturday - LHP Harrison
Sunday - LHP Volantis
Extra Starters
Bing, Flores, Rerick
Closer - Riojas and/or Duplantier
eta: Riojas looks great for 2 innings or so.. but he got left in a little too long on 2 occasions, so his ERA doesn't look great.
TBD what they will look like against a good hitting team, but so far, the pitching looks really good. The freshman (Volantis, Rerick & Flores) look great so far..
On offense..
Studs
Max looks like an All American.
Arod - needs more at bats to know for sure, but he looks like a dude to me.
Mendoza - spark plug
Solid
Flores - not a great start, but was solid last year
Gasparino
Schussler - like Flores, not a great start, but was solid last year
Galvan - needs to learn how to frame better, but hitting has been good, not great, so far..
Question Marks
Winfield - horrible start, but I feel like he could get it going at anytime.. was a freshman AA at ULM last year
Farmer - I'm not sold on this guy. The numbers aren't bad, but he takes some really bad swings at times.. most of his production has come against pretty weak pitching imo.
I think our team will really struggle to score against better pitching staffs, but I like the direction we are going.. I'm surprised that we haven't seen Jonah play yet, maybe he is hurt.

Postseason Stats since 1999 (when Super Regionals started)
We made Regionals 21 of 25 - 84%
Won 11 of 13 in Austin - 85%
Won 2 of 8 elsewhere - 25%
We advanced to Super Regionals 13 of 21 - 62%
Won 8 of 9 in Austin - 89%
Won 3 of 4 elsewhere - 75%
We advanced to Omaha 11 of 13 - 85%
7th Place- 4 of 11 - 36%
5th Place- 0 of 11 - 0%
3rd Place- 3 of 11 - 27%
2nd Place 2 of 11 - 18%
1st Place- 2 of 11 - 18%
Here is a list of each season we made Regionals. The columns are how many wins we had after 10 games.. 20 games.. 30 games.. etc and it is sorted by wins at 30 games..
I included 2025 for comparison purposes. What an amazing turnaround by Schloss and his coaching staff.. Since we are in a new conference, I don't know that it means anything at this point as the rest of the season will be different.. Regional Play will be different (no SEC teams, but most likely Big 12 and Texas teams like DBU, TCU, etc).. Super Regionals will be different as well, but I found it interesting to analyze the data..
Even going back to before 1999, the most wins we have ever had after 30 games was 27 and Schloss has 26 in his 1st year.
eta: Schloss has eliminated us 3 times. 2010 in Super Regionals with TCU, 2022 in Omaha with A&M, and 2024 in Regionals at A&M. (technically ULaLa eliminated us in 2024, but we were dead and buried after the A&M game.) We did beat him in the 2009 Super Regionals.

Going back to 1999 when Super Regional play began, Texas has only had 34 wins in their first 40 games 2 times.. but now it's 3 times..
2004 (36-4) (6-4) (6-4) > 48-12 after 60 games
finished in 2nd place
2005 (34-6) (5-5) (7-3) > 46-14 after 60 games
finished as National Champs
2025 (34-5) ??
I'm amazed at how good Schloss has been so far..
Here are the next 11 games to get us to 50.
vs Texas A&M
vs Texas A&M

vs Prairie View RPI 302

vs Lamar - RPI 78

I'm hoping for 40 wins through the first 50, but getting cold and losing some now wouldn't be so bad imo.. It's all about getting hot at the right time and hoping lady luck is on your side during the postseason..

Could you do us a favor and start this weekend, please?

In all seriousness, I have to give credit to Texas’ AD. He’s doing a hell of a job in Austin.
