We did have some klunkers in the Gillispie era too.

Three of Gillespia's top eight players his first year were current or former walk-ons. Not really a valid comparison.

Kennedy is going to be good for us. Patience. The man kin of got blindsided by Parkinson's, an empty cupboard, and a step up in competition all at once. He wasn't handed a Johnny manziel...

Meh, word is he will be fired if we don't make the NIT or NCAAs this year. I won't have to be patient much longer.

While I pretty much disagree with you, the guys did actually look pretty good tonight. I was actually kind of shocked. However, this was against buffalo. So I have no idea hiw it will translate.
Positives:
- Jordan Green for the first time during his entire career at a&m looked pretty good. He has always been extremely passive on offense. Like he couldn't wait to get rid of the ball, BUT tonight he was aggressive, drove to the basket and knocked down shots. It was a career night for him.
- Alex Caruso was pretty damn solid and his defense is spot on. He had at least 3 or 4 steals. Hands down the best passer on the team. I don't remember him having very many turnovers either if any, which he struggled with at times last year. I think he's going to be a little badass by the time he's done.
- Roberson played well inside, I think he ended up with a double double.
- all of the guards do a good job of pressuring the ball. Defense looked good on the perimeter at times, but inside will be another story.
- out of all the new guys Shawn Smith and Antwan space looked pretty damn good. Smith already looks better than anything j-mych did last year offensively.
I think what I was most surprised by was their ability to initiate the offense led by Caruso. There wasn't a lot of passing the ball around the key until five on the shot clock and just jacking up a contested shot. They moves the ball found the open man and started knocking down shots.
Negatives:
- it was against buffalo, and was just the first game. I have no idea how this will translate.
- rebounding was an issue early on. There were a lot of one and done possessions early. Not very many guys crashing the boards for offensive rebounds. This will be an issue all year against bigger teams. Outside of Roberson and space it could be interesting. Oh, the tall lanky kid from England is going to suck. He played early and I dot think he ever checked back in the game.
- freethrows, must improve.
All in all, I thought they played pretty hard, and I kind of came away from the game a little impressed. Buffalo never really attempted a full court press, which we were laughably bad at last year. Looking forward to watching Caruso develop along with Smith and Space. We will see as they go forward. This just might be a team that could be fun to root for. However, the atmosphere was just absolutely dreadful. It really is pretty embarrassing, but what do you expect when you schedule teams like buffalo.
Disclaimer: I'm drunk, so keep that in mind.

Must not have sucked too bad. These were the kind of games we barely win or lose at the end last season.
If we beat Virginia/Oklahoma, I might be convinced.

I'm glad that they won. One down. Let's see if they build off of that. I hope that we are pleasantly surprised this season.

That game analysis
Only beat the spread by 19 points...just another day of shutting down the haters for BK.

Have to win at least 11 in nonconference to do that.
Our 2 hardest games, by far, are Oklahoma and possibly Virginia.
