Or we could be like 2008 Memphis...

We're not THAT loaded, and Calipari is a better coach than Kennedy.

There are parallels there.
Memphis was in an EXTREMELY weak conference (1 bid Conference USA) with a loaded roster
Memphis was an extremely poor free throw shooting team, and it bit them in the arse in the finals

I'm not sure how teamrankings does it projections but I'll take it.
LINK
46.5% change to win the conference. The next closest is UK at 16.5%.
Projected Record: 24.4-6.6 (13.7-4.3)
Most likely final record:
25-6 (19.3%)
24-7 (18.8%)
26-5 (15.5%)
23-8 (14.8%)
22-9 (9.6%)
27-4 (9.1%)

Kennedy has poorly coached his way to improving squads everywhere he's been. He builds solid foundations that facilitate success for a few years after he leaves.
Prohm got all the glory for taking over kennedys loaded roster and continuing to do well, and then got out. Murray State sucks this year, despite being coached by another one of kennedys former assistants.
The difference is kennedys players aren't there and despite recruiting a star in Cameron Payne, the rest of prohms roster is garbage.

Not sure if we move up, but there should be some good movement.
#25 Dayton went 1-1
#23 UConn went 1-1
#16 UL went 1-1
#13 ISU went 1-1
#9 UK went 1-1
#8 Providence went 0-1
#7 UA went 0-2
#4 UVA went 0-2

I'd think we'll pass ISU for sure. They lost at home to a team we decimated. Hoops isn't like football. Teams get hot and cold and bad teams can much more easily beat good ones. But it's hard not to make that comparison right now.

Probably in the coaches, but not the AP. Its easy to argue to jump ISU in UL when they're 1 and 3 spots ahead. harder to when they're 5 and 8. And if that happens (Coaches and not AP) then 6 spots will separate the polls which seems a little out of ordinary.

Expect UVA to drop big time after their losses to Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech.

In true road games, A&M is now over 66% from the FT line compared to 62% at home.
Take out the Arizona State game and A&M is shooting over 74% from the foul line in conference road games compared to 65% in conference home games.

And in the final minute or so of the last 2 road games, we're 9/10, I think. That is really good to see.

That would make us the anti-Memphis (remember the 2008 title game)?
Posted on 1/10/16 at 6:15 pm to CGSC Lobotomy
Somewhat. My main memory is simply that that highly talented team was poor from the line all season long.
Posted on 1/10/16 at 6:17 pm to SafetySam
They went 1 for 10 from the line in the final minute, allowing Kansas to erase an 8 point deficit and force overtime.

Ah yes, now I remember! Thanks.

We are still the 5th seed in the Midwest on ESPN's bracktology but are now 3rd in the Midwest on CBS sports.
