Annnnd Elijah Thomas is transferring. Billy Kennedy strikes again.

It really is remarkable how consistently he runs players off. This is what, seven in a little over 4 years?

Kennedy is one of the nicest guys on the planet. Elijah is transferring 10 games into his freshman season, he's a primadonna.

Its hard to put blame without knowing more. Thomas has been injured multiple times and was stuck behind better bigs right now. When he's had opportunities he's played like Josh Lomers.

I stopped melting over Kennedy a couple years ago. It just is what it is now, I've accepted it.

Its a habitual pattern with Kennedy. At some point, you have to start pointing the finger at the only constant in this time frame of absurdly high transfer rates out of our program.

This kid literally played for 4 high schools before college. He's a primadonna and at the level we are recruiting he is replaceable.

Wish we could keep him, but move on we will find other talent.

Then we shouldnt have recruited him at all.

If you sign a kid, it's your job to keep them. If he was such a guaranteed transfer risk, don't waste a valuable spot on him.

In this case, I think the player had personal issues...and if you want to be technical about running off players:

Branch
Reese
Young
Alexander
Space
Fitzgerald
Smith
Hibbert
Joseph
Thomas
Jones
Johns
Robinson

It's actually 13.

You do know that over 700 players or about 18% of the players in college basketball transferred last year alone. It's not like transfers are a rare thing.

Jesus Christ. I realize this is a new world in terms of collegiate transfers, but that's just pathetic and has to be above the national average.

As for Thomas, it was clear the first game I watched him play he was nothing special, but he is a big body and could have developed. So I'm not too worried about him, but given kennedy's track record I am worried about keeping Hogg. He will be a very good player, but at this point he's not getting the time on the court that I'm sure he wishes he would. All three freshman will be starters next year if they make it through this year. So, fingers crossed.

On the plus side, with the departure of Thomas our team free
Throw % just improved.

These kids are used to being the man in high school and when they don't automatically become the man in college, they transfer. That's just the way college basketball is nowadays, these kids are just hired guns now.

And we're still about to make the tournament this year after all these players were run off. Kennedy is quite the coach.

You could make the tournament with this roster. Mark Turgeon might win the SEC and land a top 3 seed with this roster.

He's getting 18.7 MPG which really isn't all that different from the other freshman, 20.3 for Davis & 20.0 for Gilder. If you look at who plays the same position, Trocha is getting 21.1. It has been trending down slightly. He's at 15 MPG over the last 3 and 16 MPG since Jones came back. Still 5 shots a game from the #8 in MPG is a damn good job of sharing the ball.
