I'm amazed at the number of recruits coming out of TAPPS schools the last few years.

I played at a TAPPS school as a lad, and D1 recruits from a Texas private school were rare news back in them days.

I think that the number was actually unusually low before, not unusually high now. It's been quite common for private schools (SPC or TAPPS) to produce baseball and basketball recruits for quite some time. Football is only now catching up.

Hope the CB for Tisdale isn't a harbinger of things to come with Gunnell

Jimbo has historically done much better w/dual threats.

Someone explain to me why we should worry about Gunnell. I'm sure he is good, but if he is afraid of competition why do we want him? Do you think anybody that plays at Alabama is afraid of competition?

I haven’t seen any where that said he was afraid of competition, I saw he made comments about us offering DT QBs, but if he is looking at LSU, they took a DT QB in 16,17 and also wanted Foster in 18. So that argument makes no sense.

I’m on my phone so it is hard to look up stats, but I don’t think Jimbo has really ever had true DT QB. When I say DT, I’m thinking Fitz at Miss State, or Hurts at Bama. I thought he would used mobile QBs, but didn’t do a lot of designed QB runs. Gunnell seems like a perfect fit for that.

Exactly. He needs to shite or get off the pot. This class is bigger than him. Jimbo ain't got time for a Kyle Allen clone.

247 E.J. Holland: Texas Recruiting

— Four-star 2019 defensive back Erick Young said Texas has been recruiting him hard since recently extending an offer. Texas is looking at Young as a safety, and he’s been in frequent contact with UT safeties coachCraig Naivar. Young doesn’t plan to make a decision until after the summer, but Texas A&M appears to have the early edge in this one.

— Texas A&M defensive back commits Brian Williams and Bobby Wolfe both said that they are completely locked in with the Aggies and are not considering Texas at this time. While Texas will continue to work on them, neither said they would think about visiting any time soon. Bobby Wolfe and Brian Williams both sound like they are pretty firm in their commitment to Texas A&M. However, on the field, Wolfe showed off great physical ability and good quickness from the cornerback position, and he was quick to break on passes thrown in front of him. Williams wasn’t tested much, and he provided great coverage over the top for his team. Williams’ body is leaner than it was during the season, which provides him with some added flexibility.

He's interested in heading this direction. We offered him. He's got a friendship with Martin. He came with Fast, and they are all-in on Aggie right now, so we have a real shot.

It is funny ready shaggy and landthieves. If we get a bunch of recruits it’s bagmen, bagmen etc... so comical.

Even if everyone is using bagmen. They greatest thing about the SEC is it just doesn’t seem we have to worry about the Dallas Morning News trying to bag us since they are so big 12...we are an afterthought since we are no longer in the conference. Thank god!!!
