Bobby Brown is the clear starter at SDE next season and Clemons really wasn't that good when he did play last year.

Brown has 1 tackle for loss and zero sacks in 10 games. He's only a freshman and has potential, but I don't see where he's so good that he has the position locked up.

Brown this season: (10 games)

11 tackles, 1.0 TFL

Clemons last season: (13 games)

19 tackles, 3.0 TFL (1.0 sacks)

Yes, pretty similar and both a little underwhelming but not expected for 1st year players. But one guy you said wasn't good and the other guy is a lock to start next year.

Oliver allowed the lowest QBR in the country last year on passes targeting his WR. I'm not sure what happened to him this year, I really expected him to take a big step forward.

i hope he stays, but i feel like pryor will be a grad transfer with all these young safeties coming in.

That's ironic considering many thought Pryor was a liability last year.

Oliver and Tucker have been so disappointing. It's a shame because they could be the foundation of a solid defensive backfield the next 2 years, but both have regressed somehow.

With him getting some playing time at the end of the year, hopefully he sees a reason to stick around.

How much of that was Oliver vs. him being on the same side of the field as Armani Watts?

The problem with Oliver seems to be that he has no spacial awareness. He is in position on a lot of plays but just can not make the play.

So that’s exactly what I don’t get. I’ll see pass, watch it as it comes in, think “good, he’s in position, we got this” and then nope, pretty easy catch. I’m not necessarily talking about picks. I mean just easily in position to defend the pass and he doesn’t. It’s crazy. Sometimes I think “why are you even running along with him? Just stand there and save your breath.”

Been my biggest gripe all year, not sure if it can be taught but it's like they fundamentally do not understand the position. They have the phisical ability to run and cover most wr's but they fail to turn their head three quarters of the time and the other quarter they just lose on 50/50 balls, damn frustrating to watch and such a shame to waste what the front 7 has accomplished this year.

It's certainly part of the equation, but it can only be a small percentage because there would be a ton of plays where Armani wouldn't be involved either by assignment, or positioning.

He's regressed significantly. He played well last year.

Meanwhile, Arkansas is 7 spots better than us in passing yards allowed.

He plays like he expects the safety to bail him out.

Not sure if it has been mentioned but Dreshun Miller (Juco CB committed to LSU) is visiting us this weekend. Pretty big considering he apparently wants to play CB and LSU is recruiting him as a S. Him and Carter next year could be

We decided moved him back to tackle for now after speaking to enough college coaches who believe it’s possible he starts at right tackle on the next level,

I think a solid JUCO CB is my #1 option for what I want added to this class.
