I EXPECT the OC hire to be garbage. I EXPECT the 2016 season to be garbage. A melt would be if Sumlin remains the head coach after the 2016 season after he shits the bed Willingham-style.

Stitt is an interesting choice that a lot of folks won't like, but he has playcalling, gameplanning, and adjustment experience, as well as a proven track record beyond just being a glorified GA.
Plus, he won't make the mistake that Boll did by trying to jump from FCS head coach to FBS head coach right away.
It's a reach if true, but would be a departure from the norm of reeling A&M coaches hiring retreads on "their side of the ball"
I'd actually prefer Stitt over Mazzone.

Stitt is a pretty creative guy. Unless you are a real college football nerd, the average Aggie fan has never heard of him. Would be interesting to see how they would react.
People walking around with #StittHappens T-shirts would be pretty funny, though.

Stitt would be an homerun hire given the circumstances

Stitt is a big risk, but no one knows what his ceiling could be. I'll put him in the why the hell not category given the situation, and agree I would rather have him over Mazzone.

frick it, I say we hire Will Compton

A couple of my coworkers downrange are from Montana so we heard a lot about him.
As far as risk...if Sumlin plays it safe vs. taking a big risk, the only difference is the potential payoff. Plus it would show he gives a damn.
Stitt won't be hired away as a head coach after only 1 year as an FBS coordinator.

Stitt would be a home run and the fanbase would be ecstatic IMO. He is an Xs and Os coach in the truest sense of the term, the guy literally invented about half the staple Air Raid plays used today. He and Mike Leach perfected that scheme.

I agree. After a quick fan education they would be on board.

Let's take a look at Bob Stitt's record at the Colorado School of Mines (this is a joke in itself), and map the aggy reaction to these seasons:
Season 1: 2-8 (1-7) - Fire everyone, I don't care about football anymore
Season 2: 7-4 (4-4) - Not enough, we already know he's a terrible coach
Season 3: 7-4 (4-4) - See, I told you here was terrible. Same record as last year. Fire everyone.
Season 4: 6-5 (4-4) - He got worse!?? How is he not fired yet. Fire the AD too now.
Season 5: 12-1 (8-0) - Well yeah, anyone could win with the talent on this team. My 5-year old son could have won 12 games with this team.
Season 6: 6-5 (6-2) - Not only am I never watching another football game, I just murdered my own dog.
etc.
etc.
etc.

I am another that is in the Stitt camp. I'd hope that Sumlin has put in a call to him.

I could get on the Stitt camp, but if we are going to commit to an Air Raid game, then Sumlin needs to commit to it and not get cute with a "run game coordinator".
Personally, I would like to become a more physical team in the trenches, but I understand that won't happen with what we have on the roster today. Our run game on short yardage situations is damn ugly.

Freeze is going to the Giants
It's 100% true because I read it on the internet today

My understanding is that Stitt originally imagined running a West Coast style attack. But he realized he was at a recruiting disadvantage to his conference foes, and didn't think he could make that work.
So necessity being the mother of invention, he started experimenting with what could maximize what he had. If he had Bama's OL and Henry, I bet he would feed the ball to him, too.
He probably wouldn't leave the head job at Montana for a 1 yr deal as OC. He got them in the FCS playoff in his first year. A couple more years of that and someone in the Mountain West might offer him a head coach job. We'd have to make a multi-year commitment to lure him, I bet.
