Leach was fired because the Tech AD didn't want to honor the raise that would have kicked in December 31, 2009. He was fired on December 30th after the AD colluded with the hooker killer to smear him. Then Tech used sovereign immunity to prevent a civil suit.

I say we hire Leach, get Tech back on our schedule every year, and watch him beat their butts.

If Sumlin's departure is imminent, I wonder if there is any consensus among the movers and shakers on who his replacement should be.
If someone hit me up for a big contract buyout contribution, I'd probably want to know who the successor is going to be and if there is a handshake agreement.
Or are we just in a get rid of him mode, and we'll figure out the rest as we go along?

Who's in the room for discussions such as this? Who chairs the meeting? Who makes the final decision?

I imagine these are the people in charge of making decisions.

Don't want chavis, Wilson, fedora or Morris. I'm good with al the others
Edit: obviously I'd want to keep chavis as DC

How can I link something that is on someone else's phone. I'm sure they will be posted somewhere on the Web if Sumlin is let go.

If that's the route they're going to take that could be a detrimental decision. I think it would be a mistake to not give him 2016. I know the Aggie front is not happy but the PR hit is already showing in recruiting and who is the potential home run hire out there and available right now? I think a&m should hold him over the fire through 2016 while lining something up in the backroom in case he tanks. Ino my eyes I can see a 10 win season from A&m next year. If not I would throw the bank at Chip Kelly.

Chip Kelly will already have a new job next year.

Yeah I meant that as if Sumlin is fired this year throw everything they got at Chip Kelly but I also think Chip will take a year off and see how everything shapes out.

I'm a mixed bag on Morris. On one hand, I think he'll ultimately be a fairly successful coach (SMU made MASSIVE improvements on offense this year. Scored 15 TDs in 2014 versus 42 in 2015). On the other, it would be lunacy to hire a coach who just finished going 2-10 in the AAC, no matter how improved his team was from the year before.
But damn. A Morris offense with a Chavis defense is a nice dream.

Kelly - Intrigued, but doubt he comes with him hating nosy boosters.
Herman - Unproven. UofH had a D and talent when he got there.
Petrino - Could never beat Bama. Don't want.
Briles - Is that A&M offer? He hates A&M.
Wilson - Who???
Peterson - He's not leaving the NW
Chavis - I'd be on board, but would he?
Fedora - Hometown boy. Not a great hire, but I'll be willing to see where this goes.
Grundy - Nah, his offense won't work in SEC
Morris - Needs to prove himself.
And others - Interview Kyle Wittingham, K.C. Keeler (SHSU}, and Beau Waldin

Well, perhaps the ideal situation is to hire a competent OC and the head coach get his act together to maintain continuity.
It's possible that the new OC can recruit a couple QBs to shore up that position.
With incremental improvement on both sides of the ball, things might look better next year.
I don't know any of these big shots behind the scenes. Who knows if they just want to light a fire under Sumlin or depose him.
