So you're telling me you want to kill off NATO and give Kremlin zero opposition in its eastern European ventures? Do you even know what happened during the shite show that was called the "Cold war"?

America is great because we are a super power. And in order to maintain this super power status, we need to have world wide military presence. Having allies always helps.

I never said kill off. I think countries in NATO should step up and pay their fair share for essential requirements.

There are reports from NATO saying the exact same thing. Many countries are paying almost nothing

On the plus side, Obamacare will be dead soon since there is nobody to stop it from dying. It hasn't affected me much, but I'm cheating as a gov't employee. I know A LOT of people who will have their premiums go way the hell up next year.

His Mexican wall is a wash, unless it actually happens and we waste more billions. But I'm hoping sane people can talk him down from this one.

On the negative side (and this is where we're all going to laugh at Old Sarge in a year if Trump really means it, and who the hell knows about that?) his trade policy is likely to cause a global depression.

War? Who the hell knows? He seems to be really good friends with Putin, which should give everybody a warm fuzzy feeling. Aside from that I have no idea what the loose cannon might do in Syria and who knows what other hot spots may develop?

Like I said, WE ARE the world power. We want to maintain that status, then we have to pay for it. We can't have it both ways.

So you know for a fact the other NATO countries can't contribute a dime more?

You should report this to the NATO committee that was asking for increased contributions

Definitely needed to go

I don't think his Mexican wall will happen. He came in hard and will probably end up settling with amnesty. I can see Mexico agreeing to protecting it's own southern border as the majority of all immigrants crossing illegally now are central American (which makes it even stupider to demand Mexico for payment when they aren't the majority anymore)

This. My main concern is food prices. It would really throw off all the people who currently live close to the poverty line. And that's not factoring in all the illegals he plans to (but won't) deport. I don't see regular Americans willing to pick tomatoes for the pay illegals currently get.

It's the apocalypse. The Cubs win the World Series, Aggies are ranked so high yet suck so much, and now Trump.

Who is more interested in keeping the U.S as a super power? The Croatian people or the American people?

We gotta pay to be big dogs. It ain't free.

Yep. This seems to be the only bright spot. Just found out my premium will increase 67 frickING PERCENT. However, something tells me that once trump and GOP are done making changes to the ACA the insurance companies, the premiums and the shitty coverage will remain around current levels. I have no facts to base this on, just a sneaking suspicion.

All I want is pre-ACA pricing and coverage.

Actually can easily happen and can easily be funded. Billions of dollars are wired back to Mexico via Western Union. We can tax money being wired out of the country. Trust me, we wire money to and from Brazil and try to avoid it at all costs. Taxes are very high on wire transfers. 40% tax coming from Brazil to U.S. unless against an invoice for goods.

Also, the fees for tourism & business visas can be raised for people coming in from Mexico. Of course, they will reciprocate and visas will rise for U.S. visitors to Mexico. Most countries reciprocate visa fees based on what the U.S. charges. Of course using visa fees it is most likely U.S. visitors to Mexico that will pick up a large portion of the wall.

There are numerous ways to pay for a wall outside of U.S. taxpayer dollars and spending bills.

I think Trump missed out on a great reason for the wall as a benefit to Mexico is another level of stopping drug smuggling. Right now people cross the border in convoys carrying enormous bales of drugs. Just so easy. A wall... whether a real wall, a wall of enhanced border monitoring, or more agents in remote areas makes smuggling that much harder. Not so easy to get drugs in. Right now every cartel in South America is coming in and establishing a presence along the Mexican border because of smuggling. Put a big dent in this and cartels and crime along the border decreases. They are there because it is so easy right now to do business in the U.S.

Mexico put a wall up on it's southern border because of criminals coming in. Not because of people wanting to get to the U.S. There problem is that a lot of the criminals come in and stay. Some also come to the U.S.

Put all federal prisons directly on the border

Huge increase in armed Leo presence comes with that.

That's the beauty of the free market. You are joined by millions of others who just want to buy what was previously offered. There will be companies eager to supply what you demand.

I've already gone over why this is stupid and how it would only end up hurting US consumers.

You killed your own argument.

Just stop . A wall ain't going to stop drugs from coming over. It's stupid to believe that.

There is no wall in the southern Mexican border with Central America.

Think your argument thoroughly again.

If we don't pay, then there is no NATO. Why is it hard for you to understand? It's part of the gig that comes with being the only super power left.

Almost 2k miles worth of prisons???? These ideas are getting stupider by the day.

Trump said a wall. Anything short of that and it makes him a liar. Let's just see how he does it without fricking us over.

Most likely it was hyperbole in negotiation. He's a businessman. That's how you get shite done.

Figure out what you want. Propose something that goes well beyond that. Gauge reaction. If negative, walk proposals gradually back to what you originally intended. If positive, you come out even further ahead.

Simple concept.

Sorry. It was his campaign. Anything short of it makes him no more honest than Hillary. And let's be honest with ourselves, it's one of the multiple reasons many people voted for Trump instead of Hillary.

Sorry. He ran his campaign like more like a businessman (his background) and less like a politician (not his forte--hence part of his appeal to many who voted him in).

Think about it on a macro level.
